My first grad app was to Ohio State EEOB Ms program which was due on Nov. 15th. Why would they have the application deadline so early if they are not going to send out decisions until after the holidays?

I finished applying and sent in my applications on October 23rd, 2019. I applied to U-Mich, OSU, CWRU, and UW-Madison. I have a 3.756 GPA, internship experiences at Brigham and Women's Hospital NICU, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and some local classrooms. Is this a strong application/resume? Also, when did you hear back if you applied to these schools?

Hello folks, I have applied to the Biomedical Engineering PhD program in Ohio State University. They had emailed me to expect decisions by Mid-March. I have heard that OSU is usually pretty much on time. But I haven't heard anything from them yet. I emailed then this week and did not get any reply. I cannot find any posts of any applicants having got interview calls. What does this mean? Does OSU send acceptances without interviews ? Other department decisions seems to be out but nothing from Biomedical Engineering. The website reads "pending". How do I interpret this ? The wait is freaking me out.

I have an undergraduate GPA of 7.06/10, which probably doesn't meet the GPA requirement of 3.2/4 But, I pursued a masters after my undergrad where I have a GPA of 9.74/10. Will my masters GPA be considered in the application or will my application get removed with an automatic filter on the undergrad GPA?

Anybody joining OSU this fall?

Hey y'all! Seeing no one started a thread, I wanted to see who's coming down to OSU this fall. I'm an international student to start my PhD in Learning technologies. How are your preparations coming along?

I'm trying to decide between schools for a PhD in Education and Oregon State University is the only one I won't be able to visit. I would love to hear from anyone who's taken classes at the College of Education at Oregon State. What do you think of the professors? What are the classes are like, especially if you took any online Education classes? What about the College of Ed. as a whole - is it supportive of its students? Any advice, criticism, praise, etc. that you may have would be great! Doesn't matter if you took classes as an undergrad, Masters, or PhD student. I really just want to know whether you feel you received a quality education and whether you have any complaints. Thanks!

Hey Guys, I remember being in undergrad and sometimes feeling so distant from my peers because I was an international student. Well, here I am again on this voyage about to feel even weirder, this time as a grad student. I thought that we should have a space where we could be able to share experiences, answer questions, give advice, or just a space where you say what makes you feel ok about yourself. Good luck everyone! Disclaimer: I worked with International Services during my undergrad but this does not make me an immigration official. Although I can give my opinion on certain situations based on past experience, I recommend contacting your school directly about these questions.

Hello guys, I need some guidance as I will be applying for Phd programs for 2017 with cool projects but low GPA and no publications. I designed robots, worked on projects for many years. I even started to build things when I was in high school. During my undergraduate, I involved with research, worked as a research assistant at biomedical lab for two years. Then, I did a research internship at one of the finest universities in Turkey about a year. Now, I am pursuing a masters degree on mechatronics and simultaneously working as an r&d engineer at a small startup firm designing robots for handicapped people. I am able to get at least one stellar reference letter from my professors who know me and my projects. I don’t have any publication but I have almost 2 years of research experience. I have a crappy undergrad GPA, 2.70, with no good reason; and my masters GPA is 3.21. I have worked full time while pursuing masters, thats the explanation of 3.21. My GRE score will probably get around 320 - and my TOEFL score will be in 99-105 range) Do you think I have shot at these universities: Worcester Polytechnic Institute Oregon State University San Diego State University (has joint doctoral programs with UCSD - I have no idea how hard is it to get admitted) University of Connecticut These universities have awesome research topics that I want to work on them. I might be able to add 2 or more universities to my list.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any insight regarding PhD programs at Pitt, Ohio State, or Kansas University. I had initially wanted to accept an offer at Pitt, but was offered a spot at Kansas University and Ohio State. The funding packages for these 3 programs are relatively similar. None of the programs are particularly engaged in research with the population that I have an interest in, but all have stated that they are willing to help me explore ways in which to get my needs met. Thank you!

Well I'm about 95%+ sure that I'll be headed to OSU for my MFA in Photography this fall as I feel really good about that program. I know that the MFA program there is bringing in 16 new MFA's (all media) for this fall. I would love to hear from other prospective MFA's about their plans. If you visited the school, I have not had that opportunity and would like to hear what you thought about your visit. Let's get to know each other as we will be studying together for the next 3 years. If you are a current MFA at OSU or received your BFA there, chime in as well.
