Hey guys! I was just wondering, if I have published articles in my undergraduate college's college journal or my own department's journal, can I mention it in my resume for my Master's as past publications or would a publication per se only count in terms of news papers, online journals and other established platforms. Also, have any of you mentioned your undergraduate publications in your resume for the Master's? And if you have any recommendations for a good online journal which may accept articles from Undergraduate students? Maybe one you've been published with? Thank you for your guidance!
I am writing a journal paper, and I am concerned about my affiliation. I finished my MA last year, and I got accepted into a Ph.D program in a different school. But, I deferred my offer to 2017 fall. In this case, which school do I need to write as my affiliation? The one I did my MA or the one I got accepted for my Ph.D? I thought I need to choose the one I did my MA, but I just found a phrase in the email that I got from my future Ph.D school: "Congratulations on your admission to XXX University's Ph.D. for the Fall 2017 term. We have received your electronic enrollment confirmation submission and are pleased that you have chosen to pursue your graduate studies at XXX." Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone, I am doing Bachelor in KAIST Korea, double Majoring in Mathematics and Business management, my graduation is coming in Summer 2017. I'm now gathering information for applying for a Master/ PhD in Applied Mathematics, especially finnacial mathematics, (Stochastic process and Statistics), in the U.S, or Canada/Europe/Austrailia with application period being this 2016 Fall. As being a student doing Double Major, it is not required for me to do a research or graduation thesis, and even if I do, it is hard for me to get one because of the structure in my department. Frankly, professors believe that the knowledge that we learn as a Bachelor is not enough to do any research yet, and I do feel the same way. For me, my background in financial mathematics is not really strong. Recently I've just done an Individual study on portfolio management. And I also have done some financial mathematics course, (option and bond value theory, GBM, etc.) but it is not a focused branch in my school as well, meaning that there is not so many courses on this field in my university. I am wondering if it is OK to apply without any graduation thesis, more specifically I wonder if the thesis is an important factor on the admittance decision. Really desperpate for help, thanks.
