  1. Hi! Does anyone hear from Pratt Ixd 2020 spring? (I submitted my application just a day before deadline. I know is kinda late, cause I prepared for applying 2020fall until I saw the extension of spring.)
  2. Has anyone else applied to/heard back from Pratt's new IXD program?
  3. Hi guys, I currently got accepted into NYU Interactive Telecommunication Program (no scholarship) and Pratt Information Experience Design (awarded with scholarship). Question: which one should I go for? I love both of the programs and they are both prestigious schools. The fact that Pratt has awarded with a fair amount of scholarship has indeed made it very tempting... On the other hand, the fame and community of NYU ITP are very fascinating to me as well. Could some give me any advice? Thanks a lot in advance
  4. Hi guys, I posted a topic a few weeks ago, and now I am posting again because the decision gets harder...... Now I have got the following admissions, and all are STEM programs: Pratt - Information Experience Design (IED) Parsons - Design and Technology (DT) SVA - Interaction Design (IXD) NYU - Interactive Telecommunication Programs (ITP) California College of Arts - Interaction Design (IXD)* *= 1 year. The rest are 2-year programs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ My goal is to become a UX / Interaction Designer because I enjoy the process of turning an idea into a usable/ helpful reality! So, I think Pratt, SVA and Parsons may suit me more than the NYU, which is very artistic and experimental, and the 1-year CCA may be too rush for me to polish my skills and establish myself in the field. Has anyone had any advice on choosing the program to get to my goal as a UX/IXD designer? Thank you guys for your patience! Please don't hesitate to enlighten me if you have any ideas!
  5. Hi! I have just applied to a few programs and I'm just looking for some advice to see if I have a shot I guess. Also looking for any schools in Europe besides University College London that have what I'm looking for. A little background on me, I got my Bachelor of Science Interior Design at Drexel University in Philly with a minor in Art History. I graduated with a 3.3 GPA and a pretty solid portfolio (my strong suit is definitely my renderings). For the past 2 years I have been teaching at the Community College of Philadelphia as an adjunct professor teaching AutoCAD and Intro to Architecture, Design and Construction. I kind of fell into teaching but absolutely love it and love the flexibility and freedom it gives me to be creative in my spare time. Obviously with this, I need to get my masters to continue teaching at the collegiate level. My goal is to go into Exhibit and Installation design so I have applied to a variety of different programs involving this field. Mostly, I want to get more digital design knowledge (I currently am fluent in CAD, Revit, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, Laser Cutting and a little sketchup) but I want to learn more about 3D printing, CNC Routing which entails Rhino and 3DS Max. Mostly, I am curious if I have a shot at some of these reach schools of mine. But also if anyone has any insight into some more European Schools that have what I'm looking for it would be greatly appreciated. 1. UCLA - Design Media Arts 2. California College of the Arts - MArch (accelerated) 3. Portland State University - MArch (accelerated hopefully) 4. Pratt Institute - Digital Imaging MFA 5. UWash (Seattle) - MS Arch in Design Computing 6. UCL - MArch Design for Performance & Interaction ????? Thinking about: 1. Sandberg Institute (Amsterdam) - Studio for Immediate Spaces 2. University of Applied Science Europe (Berlin) - Media Spaces 3. London South Bank University - Digital Architecture and Robotics 4. Piet Zwart Institute (Rotterdam) - Interior Architecture THANKS FOR READING & HELPING!
  6. Greetings all. Any though's on SVA's Photo, Video and Related Media program versus the School of the Art Institute of Chicago photo program, or just the two schools in general? What about Pratt's Digital Imaging MFA? I think Chicago is great and would like to move there, but NYC seems to be the place for anything photo related--but don't want to fool myself. I'm more of a fine art shooter than commercial but I know there's crossover. Anyone pick a school and then regret it and drop out to try again the following year? Thanks

  8. Hi I'm currently making the difficult decision of where to pursue my graduate studies in Historic Preservation. Initially I was very interested in Pratt's program, but having read many comments on this forum and heard from former students, it sounds like some people have had really horrible experiences. But, all of these stories seemed to be a couple years old, under the former director. What I'm wondering is if anyone can speak to the improvements in the program since then. Does anyone have impressions of the current program? I'm also considering Columbia but the price is freaking me out. Thanks!
