  1. I typically hand write my notes using the traditional pen and paper. However, I am debating on switching that up whether it be getting a tablet for note-taking or some other method. If you use a tablet, which one do you use and what do you like about this method the most? If not, what other method do you use? Thanks in advance!
  2. Hey there! I'm wondering what is the proper etiquette or when is the proper time to let the professors/supervisors know about acceptances and thank them for writing? Is it best to wait until I actually make a decision, as opposed to just letting them know where I was accepted/rejected? I don't want to bother them with too many emails.
  3. Hi everyone, I’m having a hard time getting letter of references. I’d like to know if it’s possible I can use a field evaluation (undergrad internship evaluation) substituted for a letter of recommendation? Would the graduate admissions still consider this as a letter of references? Thanks.
  4. HELP! I feel like the honest answer is "never" because it will probably annoy her but also I'm not completely sure she ever received the link because when I sent it out the application said it was possible it could be sent to a spam folder. The application deadline isn't until December 31st so I know that I should chill, but also, I don't want to wait until the last minute and have her think I never sent it! I asked her if she would mind writing me another recommendation in June (this is my second cycle applying) and I submitted the form with her email on September 25th. I know she's probably just busy but I am starting to get worried... when do you guys think it would be okay to contact her? (Super apologetically, of course, and mentioning the spam folder thing!)
  5. So I've been doing research with a couple of the professors in the specific program that I'm applying to in a couple years, how will this influence my application process? I think it will help that I know their work so well already and they have seen how I work as a RA, but I don't want to feel to confidently about our relationship in terms of my application versus other candidates.
  6. Hi! I'm interested in applying to Masters of Marketing and/or Masters of Management (Marketing) programs. I was wondering if anyone has completed either the Masters of Marketing at Trinity College Dublin or Masters of Management (Marketing) at University of Melbourne? If anyone has partaken in either can you let me know your experience? Did you find that it was easy to acquire work once back in the U.S.? Where did you go to search for scholarships to fund your studies? If you have any other recommendations for schools I should apply to that offer these programs please let me know. Thank you for your help!
  7. I decided this week that going to school and teaching or being an asst. in a school at the same time will not work for me. So I must wait and apply to a school when the situation allows that and I live elsewhere since my favored school is in Las Vegas and I'm still in OR. I must get in state residence in another state or my second favorite state(CA or AZ)? But I had already started an ap. and was just about done with it. And I sent the request for a recommendation a second time, since I had asked 4 years ago after only 6 mos in undergrad. studies(post ba), and post-8 years as a stock illustrator/photographer. 1. She said no the first time because as she said, "I didn't have a large enough body of work."(this after sending her the portfolios to 5K images(graphic art illustrations) for sale on a stock site. She thought they were thumbnails when most were 16 16 in images SHOWN in large groups on ea. page as thumbnails you can click on. (No she is not a graphic arts instructor). 2. This time it's because she hasn't worked with me in an upper div. level as an instructor, and also because I don't have a cohesive/consistant body of work in clearly "one medium." Yes she ONLY WORKS IN ONE MEDIUM folks! I knew it was a 50-50 shot. But she's old school, very mentall limited I believe artistically. And she is like 2 years younger than I am? Oh well. It was worth a try. The programs I'd read for grad schools that are like her in thinking, "You must chose a track, only one track-one medium" like in undergrad programs, I ran from like the plague. They are NOT PROGRESSIVE in their thinking AT ALL! Not forward looking. I am damn proud of my mixed media works. I moved from simply a graphic designer mostly self-taught to a much more multi-focal person who approaches creativity from many potential angles to complete my works while in college again.
  8. Hey guys, So I was wondering, will it be possible for me in the future to change one of my recommendors? The problem is, one of my recommendors is usually a very busy person, and I'm not sure if he would have the time to write a recommendation letter. Although he has confirmed of his willingness of providing me with a recommendation. So in case the teacher doesn't submit the recommendation, does the online application system of universities allow me to delete a recommendor and add a new one whenever I would like to do it before the deadline? Another problem I have is, as I am unsure of this third recommendor, So is it possible to just submit the details of two recommendors, while leaving the third one blank for now? Or the application system just takes the details of all three recommendors together? Any help is highly appreciated. Thanking you.
  9. Hi all, I just paid for the Interfolio service, only to find that it is likely not to work with a majority of my school programs. I thought it'd be helpful to have some data on what applications do and do not accept the service, so that future applicants can make a better choice than I did. Attached is a google doc. If you have had any positive or negative experiences with the service, feel free to edit! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14Gu4_uCx7ROtJPskRFaZ5JihRNDLHr1SXKlxxJWW0tk/edit?usp=sharing
  10. Hello folks, I am currently exploring MPP/MPA courses in the USA with an intention to apply for Fall'2018. I am specifically looking at courses which combine Public Policy with Science/ Analytics/ Data Science like UChicago's MS in Computational Analysis and Public Policy (MSCAPP) , CMU's MSPPM- Data Analytics Track. I have a bachelor's in computer science and engineering from India and 2 years of work experience as a big data engineer at a reputed MNC. In addition I have considerable amount of part-time public service experience and I am working on a project that applies big data in the development policy space. Considering my profile, what are my chances of getting admitted into such courses at the top schools. More importantly, since I am an international applicant, what will be my the job prospects post such a graduate education? What are the job prospects of a policy student specializing in data analytics? Is the data analytics segment of such courses strong and rigorous enough to land me a job in the private sector in case the policy space does not have the desired openings? Also if you know of any good programs along these line, please do recommend Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hey all, Would submitting only two recommendations when the college requests 3 be an automatic rejection? THANKS
  13. Hello all: So, I'm trying to figure out who my 3 recommenders are going to be. I've got two that are obvious: 1. My current boss 2. My undergraduate thesis advisor For my third, I'm not sure what to do. I could easily get another work-related person - a co-worker at the same level, or another supervisor. I could also easily get another professor to speak to my academic ability. But I'm wondering if a third option might be better: a fairly prominent (by local standards) political organizer/activist, who is a graduate of a prestigious JD/MPP program himself. He knows me fairly well, and I have volunteered for several campaigns that he has run. Is it a good idea to get someone like this to speak to my commitment to good governance, my initiative, civic engagement etc.?
