I need to vent. I applied to San Jose State University’s Master of Social Work program on November 30th (the day before the deadline) and I haven’t heard anything. I know my procrastination is not a good look, but these applications are hard and I constantly second guess/overthink my essays. I’m seeing/hearing a lot of acceptances into SJSU’s program and I’m honestly losing hope because I got rejected from two MSW programs and I’m questioning if I’m even cut out for social work. I always thought I was because I’m empathetic and compassionate due to my struggles with mental and physical health, but what if they see through my BS that I thought was genuine? Part of me thinks my chances are high because I got my bachelor’s degree from SJSU, had a 3.8 university GPA with a 3.6 cumulative GPA, and was pretty involved on campus. Yet I’m fearful that it’s not enough because I don’t have enough experience or something else I had very little control over. At most, I volunteered at soup kitchens. The past month has been difficult and my mental health is at a new low. I feel worthless and like I won’t accomplish anything.

Hello, I need some advice, I have gone over the pros and cons for both schools numerous times. I ultimately want to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology (neuropsychcology). I have received offers from two programs. I am not sure which school has a better program, or are they similar in terms of quality? What will help my application when I apply for PhD programs? Here are the two: San Jose State University - MA Research and Experimental Psyhcology Humboldt State University - MA Psychology, Academic Research They are both CSUs, but Humboldt is less known. San Jose has great ratings but their computer science, business and engineering programs are what make it such a desirable school. Is there a huge difference between psychology departments and their master's programs at either college? Thank you!

I would like to get my masters in CS and start working in the industry immediately afterwards. The school I'm really considering is Cal Poly SLO for a number of reasons. My undergrad is in something else and they take students with bachelors in other fields. Tuition is cheaper compared to UCs among other things 1. What kind of reputation does Cal Poly San Luis Obispo have among employers in silicon valley etc (I happen to be from SV so I'm just wondering) 2. I could try for San Jose State as well and I would not have to move but what do you think about San Jose State's reputation in comparison with Cal Poly's? Does it matter that much? Is there are pretty big difference? 3. Are there any schools (in the country) that are pretty generous in giving stipends and fellowhsips such that you think I could get a full ride with my stats? (3.65 undergrad gpa in environmental studies, GRE: verbal - 720, quant - 770, writing - 5.5) Money is a rather significant consideration for me so even if it's not a super highly ranked university but provides funding for a masters program, that would make a difference.
