  1. I was recently accepted to both philosophy programs. I am having a hard time deciding on which program would be best for me in the long run. My main interest is philosophy of mind (consciousness, explanatory gap, phenomenal character of experiences, nature of self, mind-body problem, panpsychism, etc) Which school is better!? I’m mostly curious about faculty and how they interact with students.
  2. Hey everyone! I just wanted to connect with others who are also waiting for admission decisions for MSW programs; this process feels like it's taking forever! I applied to UC Berkeley, CSU East Bay, SF State, and am still working on SJSU. This is definitely nerve-wracking! Has anyone else applied and feels nervous????? Which programs did ya'll apply to??

  4. Hi everyone, I'm currently an SLP undergraduate at a local CSU. I'm interested in applying to graduate school in California but want to know what experience, test scores, GPA, etc I should have to remain competitive. Has anyone gotten accepted to the CSUF, CSULB, or Chapman SLP Grad program? If so, what were your stats related to scores/gpa/experience? Any advice as well?

    MSW CSU 2018

Hi Guys! So it’s about that time! Schools are sending out their acceptance/decline letters. Let this be a place where you can share which CSUs you applied, which ones you’ve heard from and have yet to hear from. If you got invited for an interview please share some tips for those who haven’t had theirs yet. Let’s support each other and possibly meet people who will be in your program in the fall! My name is Selene and I applied to the extended programs for CSUF CSULA and CSUDH. I got accepted to CSULA and CSUDH but have yet to hear anything from CSUF.
  6. Anyone have any insight into what east bay's program looks like? Ive heard good things but not sure. Trying to decide between SFSU and East Bay!
  7. Hello! I was invited to the SFSU interview on this coming Monday and I'm nervous as to how to prepare for it. Does anyone have any experience they would be willing to share regarding how the interview is run or the content that will be asked? Will they be asking more skills related items (stuff you learned previously in class), scenario based (not necessarily skills related) or more about the program itself (why do you think you would be a good fit, why this program/school etc...)? All information is appreciated and thank you in advance!
  8. I would like to invite anyone who has attended or is currently in a Cal State MSW program to please share your thoughts and experience on the program. As an applicant, I felt there wasn't enough information out there to make a decision on which schools would be a good fit for me. Some examples of questions I haven't found many answers to: What kind of social work interests you? Did/do you enjoy your overall program experience? What was faculty/staff like? What was the internship process and experience like? Is self-care emphasized in the program? Did/do you feel prepared going into the field? Thanks for sharing!
  9. This morning I got an email from San Francisco state with subject line: Update Regarding Your SF State Application. I went on to check the application status and nothing. I am wondering if I should call them because it also stated to turn in materials if I haven't done so and contact the department. I am not sure why this update since I was interviewed and I am just waiting for their response. Any thoughts? Maybe it's nothing and I am just super nervous and trippin.
  10. Hey yall! So I got good news for my MFA poetry applications-- I'm a Berkeley local and applied to SFSU's MFA program as well as CCA's MFA and got into both! I am having a lot of trouble figuring out what I should do. I'd appreciate as much advice as possible! Right now I'm thinking about these things: SFSU: is a LOT cheaper, and I'm getting a scholarship for the first semester; amazing staff; offers teaching certification included with degree; is located kind of far away so commuting will be a pain depending on how many days a week I am actually on campus [tuition is approx 7k per year] CCA: private art school; offering me a more prestigious array of scholarships even though it will still end up more expensive than SFSU; no teaching certification; amazing campus, but i'll be surrounded by people who are mostly willing or able to dive into an insanely high tuition and idk how comfortable id feel being in that environment as a low income person of color [tuition is approx 40k per year, but i would basically be receiving 70% of my tuition covered] I've also been traveling all month for academic events and its made it super hard to organize the pros and cons of each. Basically floundering a little!!! Thank you in advance <3
  11. Hey all. I need some help deciding. I've been admitted into UC Berkeley and SFSU's Joint PhD program in Special Education as well as the Harvard Graduate School of Education for an Ed.M in Specialized Studies. Both are amazing programs but two very different commitments. I believe my end goal is a Ph.D., and the Berkeley/SFSU program is a wonderful one for my research interests and needs. However, I wasn't eligible to many PhD programs this time around since I didn't have a masters, and am wondering if it's worth taking a year to do the Harvard program so that I would be eligible for more PhDs next time around... what do you think? A bird in the hand? My research interests are really specific and UCB/SFSU is really open and supportive to what I want to do... it seems like the right decision, but I'm having trouble imagining turning down a masters from Harvard and imagining all of the "what if" scenarios that could happen if I go that route... Help? Thank you!!
  12. Anyone else apply to Masters programs in Psychology in California for Fall 2012? I applied to these following schools: -San Francisco State MA Social Psychology -San Jose State MA Experimental Psychology -CSULB MA Psychological Research -CSULA MA Psychology -CSU Fullerton MA Psychological Research but have yet to hear from any of them. Just wondering if there was anyone else in the same/similar boat!
