  1. Is there anyone who has gotten into CSULB's Masters program? I have a few questions
  2. Hello everyone! I'm starting grad school in a week (summer start) and I'm wondering how current and past graduate students do with note-taking? I tried typing notes in class one semester during undergrad and it didn't work out for me (slow typer and I don't type "properly" lol). I've been a pen to paper kid, but I'm curious about using an iPad and pen. 3/4 of my textbooks are ebooks this term since it was the cheapest route. One thing I would like to do is write on the pages of my ebooks. I also want to mention I'm a part-time student, 2 classes per term. Looking forward to reading your experiences, etc
  3. Has anyone heard of anything about UVA's program? Just got accepted as a Track 2 student and would appreciate anyones insight!
  4. Hello! Does anyone have any experiences or have heard anything about these programs? Thanks in advance! GWU CU Boulder University of Arizona University of Utah University of Virginia NYU (on campus) Emerson/BU/MGH/Northeastern
  5. Hi everyone! I recently just graduated with a bachelors in Speech Language Pathology. I finished with an overall 3.1 GPA and a 2.8 major GPA. I love this field so much that I can’t see myself doing anything else. My huge concern is do I have the chance of getting into graduate school with the GPA that I have. Has anyone been accepted to graduate school with a low GPA or know ways to increase my chances of getting accepted? Thank you! xoxo
  6. Does anyone know when the CSUF Post Bacc application will open for fall 2021? I emailed Dr.Tsao and I got an automated reply that said she can’t reply until Mid-August. also, does anyone know if they will waive the cbest requirement? i can’t find ANY testing centers open and covid19 is spiking even more.
  7. Okay so I graduated with a degree in Speech Language Hearing Sciences and got into a graduate program in the Fall (YAY).. But I need to take 3 courses this Summer in order to actually be "in". I need to take an undergrad course in Speech Sound Disorders and an undergrad course in Language Disorders, and then a physics or chem course. Any idea where in the world I should take these for cheap? I've discussed with UW- Eau Claire post-bacc/leveling coursework program but they can't guarantee me a spot until like a week prior to classes starting (talk about stressful)... Anyone else been through this before? (I'll likely take the chem/physics at a local community college to save $$ but really don't have a back up plan for the other leveling courses)
  8. Is apply to spring semesters of graduate school less competitive? Also for those with a GPA below 3.0 what schools did you apply to?
  9. Hi Everyone! I just want to chime in here as this application season has been very overwhelming. I am applying for the fall 2019 for grad school in speech language pathology. The road to getting here has been very long as it took me a while to get in this career path. I am currently finishing up some pre-requisites online, studying for GRE, and working on grad school applications. Is anyone else on the same boat? Also, I am 29 years old and the thought of turning 30 in grad school is sometimes a bit terrifying. However, I am determined to defy all the odds and give it a shot to get in a program. I am applying for 13 schools. Anyone else like this? Thoughts? Concerns? Thanks.
  10. Hi guys! This is the first time Im using a forum but I am eager to get your input. I am interested in applying to the COMD Masters program at UTD for Spring/Summer 2019. I've always been so nervous to apply to the program, obviously scared of receiving a rejection. I graduated with my BS in Speech Pathology and Audiology from UTD in 2013. My GPA was 3.56. I also graduated with a MAT (Masters in Arts of Teaching) Science Ed from UTD in 2016. My GPA was 3.97. I completed my thesis in grad school on the effects of an inclusive classroom on the academic achievement for students with and without learning disabilities. I am currently studying to take the GRE as I haven't taken it yet since the masters program I was in didn't require it. I had two kids in grad school so I have not been able to hold a full time job. But I have been an AVID tutor for PISD, a sub for PISD, and taught English online to kids living in China. I really more than anything want to get into UTD's COMD program but have been so scared to apply because I know of so many people getting rejected. I am also interested in TWU's distance learning option since its so far from home. Anyone have any detail info about their program? What are your opinions of me getting in with my stats? Anyone else got in at UTD with already having a masters in a different field?
  11. Sorry ahead of time because this is going to be a long post, but I'm in need of advice and a little reassurance. I graduated in May with my BA in Speech-Language Pathology. My first 2 years of college were tough, I was going through some personal things and dealing with sickness and depression and you could tell by my grades. I withdrew from all of my classes one semester but I honestly should've taken at least a year off to get back on track and motivated, but I didn't want to sit out for that long. I transferred to a different university and my last 2 years I improved A LOT, I mean I wasn't getting a 4.0, but still good grades. My first 2 years drug my GPA down a lot, but I love the field so much I'm going to try my best for grad school. I'm trying to apply to schools that look at the last 60 hours GPA and/or use a formula score (with your last 60 GPA and GRE score) like at Southeastern in Hammond, Louisiana. My GRE score is average, I got pretty bad test anxiety when I took it so I'm studying a lot right now and plan to retake it this summer and improve my score. I'm trying to make myself look better for grad school since I'm lacking in GPA, so I'm working as a Reading Interventionist at my local elementary school and I'm wanting to volunteer with something speech related for the summer. I live in a small area though so there aren't very many opportunities. I've gotten very discouraged looking at different program requirements and posts on here and considered just going into teaching, but at my job I've gotten pulled to sub so many times and dealing with that many children at once, I just don't think it is for me. Any advice on specific programs or jobs/volunteer opportunities that will help me increase my chances of getting in? Thanks in advance!
  12. Hi everyone! I'm looking for some advice from people that have accepted offers already, are already attending graduate school, or have completed graduate school... How did you determine which school is the best for you (if you had options)? I am trying to visit schools, do online research, etc. but I know this is a very important decision. Some factors are obviously funding, distance, and the program's values but I am finding this overwhelming as there is so much to consider. I also believe that, to some extent, you can make the best out of it no matter which school you attend. Thoughts? Advice? Thanks to all in advance!
  13. Anyone else bored and ready to start grad school. I'm literally counting down the days!
  14. I’ve just been accepted to Cal State Northridge’s Online Master’s Program for Communicative Disorders & Sciences/Speech-Language Pathology through the Tseng College. I was hoping to find out if anyone is enrolled in that program and what they think about it. I have until next Monday (Halloween) to decide. Thanks for any info you can give!
  15. I am a brand new member to this site and I am in high need of some advice. I really need to get my butt in gear and apply (AGAIN) for grad school. I graduated in 2009 with my BA in CD, tried 3 times to get into grad school, rejected all three times. I am hesitant because i don't want the rejection anymore. I am looking for online programs because I have 2 young children. I live in CA, and honestly, any advice for anything would be helpful. I am an average student (3.2 GPA), GRE scores are low, and I don't have any contact for reference letters from old teachers. I have been working as a SLP-A for the last 5 years, and thought that would get into school no problem with all the experience and great letters of Rec from supervisors, but it hasn't. Thank you for any hope you can offer!
