  1. Hi All, I was just wondering who was planning to go to the University of South Carolina's open house on March 15th. I would like to go, but flights are a little pricey, and I'm also worried about hotels. Does anybody have advice on hotels on the cheaper side, close to campus, that I could stay at, if I do go to the open house? Thanks, everybody!!
  2. Hi! So I'm deciding between attending Appalachian State, Univeristy of Memphis, and the and University of South Carolina- I've exsentively researched these programs online and have visited all except USC, but I still feel like I need more insight before I can make a decision! I'm hoping for a supportive program that prepares me for all aspects of the field of SLP. I'm from South Carolina, so in state tuition would be nice, but assistanships are possible at the out-of-state schools. Any advice/insights/tips? Thanks a million!
  3. Hi, everyone. I just wanted to know what the GRE scores of people who were accepted into programs such as University of South Carolina (ONLINE), Eastern New Mexico(HYBRID), University of Georgia, and University of West Georgia. My stats: 153 V (60th percentile), 4.0 AWA,,and 144 Q; Overall GPA 3.67; last semester GPA 4.05; CSDCAS CSD ;GPA 3.67. The GRE scores you see above are from taking it twice. I have leadership experience as a NSSHLA officer, working with students who have autism, and also observation hours in different settings. This will be my 2nd time applying, and I am just really nervous because at first I was placed on the wait list at my alma mater, but they didn't use it this year. So, I'm going to reapply. However, I want to show the committee that I really tried to improve and gain more exposure to the field. I'm looking at more programs this time around and trying to get a realistic idea of if I have a chance of getting in somewhere. I'm noticing that some schools say they require a certain GRE/GPA range on their website and ASHA Edfind but then I see people in the results forum with stats way below it getting accepted. I'm happy for them. I just want to know how that works. I already signed up to take the GRE again just to see if I could increase my verbal score to 160 and AWA to 5.0 even though others have told me that I should just focus on getting more outside experience at this point. This would be the last time that I take it because I don't want to keep stressing on the GRE as if it's the only component of my application. Any tips? Thanks in advance!

  5. http://www.sc.edu/uofsc/posts/2017/04/sarah_gehlert_named_social_work_dean.php#.WPzFn1LMyt- "...Gehlert was the E. Desmond Lee Professor of Racial and Ethnic Diversity at Washington University in St. Louis and has been named dean of the University of South Carolina College of Social Work by Provost Joan Gabel. "Sarah's appointment comes at a time when we are further strengthening our university’s position as a state and regional leader in health science research and education," Gabel says. "I’m excited to have a scholar of her stature join the College of Social Work as it continues to make great strides in both research and direct community impact. Her dedication to working collaboratively to improve the health of society’s most vulnerable populations makes her an ideal fit for the position." Gehlert begins at a time when the university has set into motion a bold health sciences initiative and greater collaboration between social work, nursing, pharmacy, public health, biomedical engineering and medicine. Gehlert, who had a joint-appointment in Washington University's George Warren Brown School of Social Work and the School of Medicine, says collaborations between fields of study can produce greater results since healthcare providers treat the whole patient. Her research area includes studies on the effect unsafe and violent neighborhoods have on African American women diagnosed with breast cancer."
  6. Hello, Is anyone having trouble trying to type your enrollment objective portion of the application? How did you guys do it? I don't really want to write it out if I don't need to. 7. Hi, I have been invited for a skype interview for the Ph.d. program in Chemistry at the University of South Carolina. The email came from the graduate office. I wonder what type of interview I have to face? They mention faculty member but didn't provide me any name. If anyone experienced it before, please kindly share with me. Thanks.
  8. Is anyone in this program? What do you think of it and where else did you apply? What are you hoping to do ultimately/what are you interested in, and what do you find the program concentrates on most?
  9. Hey there, Now, I know there are three people here who also got into SC, in the same program as I have. Who are you? I'm Trevor, nice to meet you.
  10. I have recently been admitted to the University of South Carolina's MSP program. Of the schools that I have applied to, for some reason their program is one of the most intimidating, to me. Perhaps it is mainly because of the image they try to project... I'm not really sure. If you, or anyone you know, is/has attended the full-time Masters of Speech Pathology at USC.... I would really appreciate some information!! I'm interested to know how intense it actually is... and if possible perhaps even some comparison to other Masters of SLP programs. Feel free to post what you know... no flaming, of course
