  1. Hi! After applying to 9 schools and hearing back my acceptances (and rejections), I think I have decided to put down my deposit for Brooklyn College. It's the most affordable, their graduate students start off in the clinic their very first semester, and I've always wanted to live in NYC. If anyone has any advice/thoughts about Brooklyn College or their SLP program, please let me know! Also, I am moving out of state from PA so if anyone is also going to Brooklyn College and needs a roommate, please reply! All the advice I have ever heard when choosing the right graduate program can be summarized in one simple phrase, "Save your money." Just because a program is more money, does not mean it is better. I hope someone comes across this post and really considers it, because I was about to pay so much money for my "dream school" when truly, I could get the same education elsewhere and pay off my loans in 5 years instead of 25 years. Good luck to everyone on their decisions!
  2. Hi friends! I was originally expressing interest to apply to ENMU's Spring 2021 Cohort for Speech Pathology, but when I received the email that they were still accepting applicants for Fall, I sent my application and was provisionally accepted! I am about to start a few prerequisites on Monday, but I am excited to get going. I graduated undergrad three years ago, so I am excited to get back into the swing of things. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the classes, how vigorous they are, etc. Also, I am looking for others in my cohort! I searched for a FB page but couldn't find one.. Excited to get to know people and potentially find roommates for Spring semester! I feel very late to the game!
  3. Hey guys! I'm currently stuck between two great SLP programs at SUNY Plattsburgh and New Paltz, and am having a hard time picking one school. Any insight from former or current grad students at either school would be great and highly appreciated! Anything you could tell me about the classes, professors, placements? Please and thank you!
  4. Hi all, So I took the GRE yesterday and I didn't do as well as I hoped I had...but it's my own fault with my inconsistent studying and what not. But my scores were 151 V and 152 Q, so that's literally average. My overall GPA is a 3.88, whereas my SLP GPA is a 4.0. I think my LOR will be good, not like super great, just good. I have experience volunteering at two different hospitals, I have observations hours, and have experience with children with disabilities. I also have experience with people from different cultural backgrounds. I'm President of an organization on campus and am a part of an Honor Society as well. I'm wondering if you guys think if I should bother taking the GRE again? Will other parts of my application help me out or will that just knock me out of the park? I'm applying to Columbia, NYU, UMaryland, Boston, San Diego, Syracuse, and Hofstra. What do you guys think? HELP. If I were to take it again I would take it in a months time. And really try to improve my verbal score because I think I should have studied more for it than I did. I kind of just neglected it thinking "oh I can't memorize these words...there's no hope." So let me know Thanks so much!
  5. Do grad schools superscore GRE scores? I did really well on my verbal and writing, but not so much on my quantitative section. I plan on taking the GRE again to improve on quantitative, but I want my other sections from the first try to be counted. Do any schools accept the highest scores from each test you take?
