  2. Hello, Has anyone made the decision to attend Nova Southeastern University SLP program for winter 2020? Anyone going to the orientation in December? Anyone from California? 🙂
  3. Hi everyone! I recently just graduated with a bachelors in Speech Language Pathology. I finished with an overall 3.1 GPA and a 2.8 major GPA. I love this field so much that I can’t see myself doing anything else. My huge concern is do I have the chance of getting into graduate school with the GPA that I have. Has anyone been accepted to graduate school with a low GPA or know ways to increase my chances of getting accepted? Thank you! xoxo

  5. Hi guys! I am in the process of applying to grad schools for next fall! I am having trouble with writing the personal essays. Some of my applications give me a limit on how long but others just say brief statement. How long should I make them? Also, what is the format of these essays? Sorry, I’m just getting stressed out with all of this stuff and I still have yet to take my gre!
  6. Hi everyone! I officially committed to attending University of the Pacific's Master's in Speech-Language Pathology starting Fall 2019, and I wanted to see if there are any people out there who are also attending this fall! I will be part of the 24 month cohort, and I'm originally from Northern California but currently live in Chicago. I know it's not April 15 yet (big day is tomorrow!), but if anyone knows of a Facebook group of students who are attending, can you post the link here? Can't wait to meet you!

  8. I've been going back and forth between the two and having a hard time deciding because they are SO different. If anyone could provide insight on any info they know about the programs please let me know!
  9. I would like to know other’s stats/stories of those who had low GPA’s and how they got accepted into graduate school. Hopefully it can show not only me, but others who are also losing hope that there is always a chance of getting in!
  10. Hi everyone! I am beginning the process of applying to Grad school for Speech Language Pathology. Does anyone know of any schools that only look at your last 60 credit hours or only your CSD major gpa? I have grades from a community college 10 years ago that are really tanking my cumulative gpa. Thanks!
  11. I am planning to do my masters in speech language pathology in the US. I want to know which college is the best. I am from India, So i would also prefer colleges where there are Indians.
  12. Hey ya'll, I have been waitlisted to Loyola Maryland and was told that I was on the first tier within the three tiers. Today I received an email saying that they accepted the first group of people off of the waitlist and I was not one of them. Has this happened to anyone else OR Does anyone else know how many people have been waitlisted from Loyola Maryland SLP School?
  13. Wanted to get in touch with those planning on attending Fredonia for the Speech Language Pathology program, Fall 2018 start!
  14. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Speech-Pathology Master programs at New York University or New York Medical College? I was fortunate to be admitted to both, but even with my research, I can't seem to find too much of a distinction between their programs that can help me decide. I have yet to hear from five schools but since these schools are at the top of my list anyway, I figured I'd start with these. Any insight about the school/program/courses/students/school culture/professors/requirements/etc would be greatly appreciated!
  15. Hi everyone! I'm looking for some advice from people that have accepted offers already, are already attending graduate school, or have completed graduate school... How did you determine which school is the best for you (if you had options)? I am trying to visit schools, do online research, etc. but I know this is a very important decision. Some factors are obviously funding, distance, and the program's values but I am finding this overwhelming as there is so much to consider. I also believe that, to some extent, you can make the best out of it no matter which school you attend. Thoughts? Advice? Thanks to all in advance!
  16. I have an interview for the Speech Pathology program at Texas Tech on Friday and I have purchased a coral colored blazer to wear with a nice blouse, black slacks, and black heels. I am now doubting if my blazer is a good choice? I think it looks great but will the color come off unprofessional? I appreciate any opinions!
  17. I recently took the GRE for the first time and received a 152 Verbal and 151 Quant. I have not received my writing score yet, but I am debating whether I should plan on retaking the test. Some of the schools I am applying to say their average scores are around a 155 Verbal and 152 Quant. However, my GPA is well above average at a 3.96. I also have various volunteer experience, 60 hours of shadowing, and am completing research with a professor. Should I plan on retaking the GRE for three points?
  18. My confidence is dropping every day. This is my second time applying and I was wait listed at OU my first round. I have a strong resume and recommendation letters, but not all schools with accept those two things. Think I have a chance based on my numbers??? Experience: "Autism Tutor" in undergrad & currently a full time therapy tech at a Rehab facility cGPA: 3.6 Major GPA in COMD: 3.6 GRE: 146Q / 152V / 3.0AW
  19. Hey Everyone, I need some realistic input of my chances of getting into a speech pathology (slp) program! Since graduating almost 2 years ago I've.. taught English in 2 countries, (2 months in one, 8 months in another) worked as an early intervention associate, behavior therapist, ABA therapist in 2 schools and home aba therapist, I also volunteer weekly teaching English, speak 2 languages and am improving my Spanish basically I've dedicated all my time (after graduating) working with individuals through 1:1 therapy and mentoring to get all the experience I can to be a better SLP i feel my resume & experience are great what I lack... my gpa: 2.9, gre: in the 140's & writing is 4 my letters of rec will be written by an hdfs prof,an slp who supervised me & teacher I worked w/abroad (teaching english) I'm applying to schools in CT(local), NY, RI & NJ but it scares me so much that I won't get accepted because of my low gpa.. do I have a chance of acceptance? should I apply anyways? retake classes?
  20. Anyone have any input on speech language pathology programs at the following schools. I'm looking for the most ideal location to commute to, best pricing, availability of AAC courses, and obviously a quality program. Thanks for weighing in!! It's freak-out week!!! University of West Chester University of Delaware Temple university Bonus points if you have any info on Old Dominion University!!
  21. I am really struggling to decide on a school and the deadline is approaching fast! Could anyone weigh in on any of my top three schools? My biggest concerns are price, location, nontraditional student support (I'm currently a special education teacher), and availability of AAC courses. Could anyone add any input to my pro/con list on these concerns and other other pros or cons that may have made you choose that school. Thank you so so much! Temple pros: wouldn't have to move (save $$ and stay near bf/family), quality program Temple cons: 6 semester program, most expensive, known to be pretty difficult (which scares me a bit as a nontraditional student) WVU pros: cheapest (plus they gave me a sizable scholarship), 5 semester program, quality program WVU cons: move 5 hours away, campus size is a bit daunting, pay for living Old Dominion pros: favorite SLH clinic facility (attached preschools), more nontradiaional students there, quality program Old Dominion cons: 6 semester program, move 5 hours away, pay for living
  22. How many Speech Language Pathology graduate school programs should I apply to? I was thinking 7 or 8...
  23. Do grad schools superscore GRE scores? I did really well on my verbal and writing, but not so much on my quantitative section. I plan on taking the GRE again to improve on quantitative, but I want my other sections from the first try to be counted. Do any schools accept the highest scores from each test you take?
  24. Hi all, I am currently a Junior pursuing my Bachelors degree in Communicative Science and Disorder (CSD). My overall GPA is 3.3, which I know is really low compared to others who are applying to SLP grad programs but part of why my overall GPA was so low is because I was a different major and decided to switch to CSD last semester. I have volunteering experiences at a hospital for an year doing some basic paperwork and assisting patients during their recovery, worked at a lab as a research assistant and have some tutoring experiences. I have not yet taken the GREs but planning on taking it later this year and then again during the summer of 2017. My dream grad schools to get into are University of Washington, NYU, Columbia (Teacher College), and MGH. I know my chances of getting into these schools aren't high but I still want to give it a shot and apply. I'm open to any suggests that you think I would need to work before I apply. Thanks in advance!
  25. Hi Everyone! I am applying in the Fall to a TON of schools in the South, which I was hoping would included LSU. However, I am only slightly familiar with LSU Baton Rouge and sort of confused. Would someone mind helping me out when it comes to comparing SLP programs at LSU AM and the other LSU campuses? Should I apply to all? Just one? Do they prefer LA residents? My fiance is applying to medical school this year too, so we are trying to apply to the same schools but it looks like LSU only accepts LA residents for their med program Any help is greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!!!!!!
