Which undergraduate degree should I choose
fbaerga posted a topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Besides CSD what are other undergraduate degrees that would work well with a Speech Language graduate degree? So far I’m thinking Linguistics, Social work, Education, Communications, Psychology, language development and English. I am right or wrong on any of these? Any others that would work well? Thanks! -
Hi everyone! I recently just graduated with a bachelors in Speech Language Pathology. I finished with an overall 3.1 GPA and a 2.8 major GPA. I love this field so much that I can’t see myself doing anything else. My huge concern is do I have the chance of getting into graduate school with the GPA that I have. Has anyone been accepted to graduate school with a low GPA or know ways to increase my chances of getting accepted? Thank you! xoxo

I need to complete an Intro to Audiology class this winter in order to be able to apply to SLP Grad Programs. Anyone know which colleges offer online prerequisites in the winter?

Does anyone know when the CSUF Post Bacc application will open for fall 2021? I emailed Dr.Tsao and I got an automated reply that said she can’t reply until Mid-August. also, does anyone know if they will waive the cbest requirement? i can’t find ANY testing centers open and covid19 is spiking even more.

Hi I’m planning on applying for the Post-Bacc for Speech Pathology program. I’m only looking into schools near my home (CSUF, CSUN, Biola, CBU, etc) I know that you have to send in your transcripts but do you have to send it in like 6 weeks before the deadline? I have a problem because I’m a Junior in undergrad right now and after spring quarter, I would have a 2.98ish. But for Fall, I’m retaking the classes that I failed during Freshman year (due to personal reasons) and this is going to boost my gpa ALOT. But if I am expected to send in my transcripts at

I'm interested in applying for the Speech Pathology Post Bacc at Cal State Fullerton. My undergrad GPA won't be so high at the time of application, which I'm super worried about because I know CSUF is competitive. I really want to get into the post bacc at CSUF. Does the CSUF Post-Bacc program only look at your gpa at the time of application? Or will they also look at your gpa overall? At the time of application, I'm only going to have a 3.155 but my graduation I would have a 3.4. Can anyone give me some information?

My current roommate (Sydney) and I are looking at renting a 3 bed, 2.5 bath house neat the UGA Campus starting around August. Sydney and I both attended UGA for undergrad and will be continuing at UGA this fall for our Masters in Speech-Language Pathology. Here is a link to the house we are planning on leasing: https://www.3treerealty.com/property/172-dans-way/ . Rent would be $473.33/month + utilities. The house requires a security deposit, so two months rent would be due upfront. If you have any questions for Sydney or for me, let me know!

I want to apply for the Post Bacc for Speech Pathology at CSUF and one of the requirements is a cbest passing score. all the testing centers are closed this whole year and probably next year... Does anyone know if they will not making it a requirement this year? I emailed the Dr.Tsao and she was so vague and just told me to recheck the website in September to see if they can make accomodations but I’m just sitting here sweating because that’s such a late time... Does anyone know if they would?

I have to take the CBEST because it is a requirement for me to apply for the post bacc for SLP at CSUF... English is not my first language although I did live in America for a long time and I was in ESL until 6th grade... I have to get a 43 on the reading section to cover for the math section (I took it once before) and pass but every time I do the reading practice I would always get in the 38-40 range and it’s just stressing me out because I don’t think I can ever raise my score... My test is scheduled for September 22 but I don’t know if I can raise my score by t

I want to go into the SLP program but I need to do a Post Bacc before I can get in. I’m worried for so many reasons and I’m losing sleep over it.. First, I am not a science or math person. I was never good at science and it is my weak point. I am a Junior in Undergrad right now and I am something like an Educations major because I thought about the teacher route until I found out about SLP. I would always avoid the hard science classes during undergrad because I was so afraid to get Cs and Ds or even fail. My gpa is not very competitive.. due to personal reasons I couldn’

Writing this because when I was applying for MU, there was very little information about it because the program was (and still is) so new. I think everyone that's considering attending there should know as much about it as possible, because the school you choose really does have an impact on the knowledge you enter the field with. Also, it's expensive, so I'd hate to see more people drop almost $80k and hate it, like a lot of my classmates, or regret it, like almost all of us. About the School: MU is a private university located in West Long Branch, NJ approximately one mile from the bea

Hi all! Unfortunately this round of applications wasn't in my favor, so I plan to take the rest of the year to strengthen my application. One avenue I was thinking of taking would be retaking some CSD courses (mainly neuroscience and phonetics) because they were my weak points in undergrad CSD courses, along with some general requirement courses (physics). I've seen many people highly recommend schools such as ENMU for leveling courses, but I've also noticed that some say they're receiving a second CSD BA. Would anyone who has more knowledge of this be able to enlighten me before I go all in?

Hi everyone! I officially committed to attending University of the Pacific's Master's in Speech-Language Pathology starting Fall 2019, and I wanted to see if there are any people out there who are also attending this fall! I will be part of the 24 month cohort, and I'm originally from Northern California but currently live in Chicago. I know it's not April 15 yet (big day is tomorrow!), but if anyone knows of a Facebook group of students who are attending, can you post the link here? Can't wait to meet you!

Hi! I'm looking for clarification on how to apply for scholarships once you've been accepted. I'm sure each school approaches this differently, but for example, I've been accepted to UT Health San Antonio and on their website it says that in order to apply for scholarships, I "must apply for admission into SHP and be accepted into a program of study (matriculated)". So does this mean I won't be able to apply until I have accepted their offer? It says I need to do this in their student portal but I don't have any of that information and I'm assuming it comes after I accept on my end?

Hi! I'm an out of field applicant applying to a couple SLP masters programs on the east coast. Is anyone else applying to UConn? I've completed their CSDCAS application and submitted their Slate portal application too but it doesn't say complete, just submitted. I've upload my transcripts and it has my GRE score, does anyone know if there is anything else I have to do? Thanks!!

Hi guys! I am in the process of applying to grad schools for next fall! I am having trouble with writing the personal essays. Some of my applications give me a limit on how long but others just say brief statement. How long should I make them? Also, what is the format of these essays? Sorry, I’m just getting stressed out with all of this stuff and I still have yet to take my gre!
