  1. Hey guys!! ? I think it is about time to start this year's application thread. I'm sure many of you have already started the application process and some are finished. I hope this thread will help you in ways it can and give you as much info on schools as possible. I am applying for the third time (due to financial reasons could never accept the offers), you know what they say third is the charm. Personally i will be applying for MA in International Relations/Affairs with concentrations in Development and Human Rights. Best of luck to all of you and hopefully this time i actually get to go to Grad School And below are the schools that i would be applying to for the Fall 2019 term: Yale Jackson Institute of Global Affairs Baruch CUNY Austin W. Marxe School of public and International Affairs Penn State school of International Affairs University of Georgia Seton Hall University My UGPA is 3.6 i will have worked 2 years by next summer. My GREs are in the 153s not that but i will try to work with it.
  2. Inspired by @bigdatagirl 's idea. If anyone is applying for graduate programs in the Spring or Fall of 2019, feel free to post your profile and the colleges you are applying to. Just interested in what kind of profiles and applicants are out there. Undergraduate Major: Applied Math Institution: TCNJ GPA: 3.1 GRE: 162 Q / 151 V/ 5.0 A Relevant Courses: Regression, Data Mining, Database management, Intro to Data, Data management (taking now), Probability (taking now), Business Analytics (taking now) Applying to: Drexel, Penn State, Rutgers, NJIT, Northeastern, UMDUC, Villanova
  3. Hi everyone. I'm planning to apply for a PhD in Chemical Engineering for a Spring term intake. Therefore, I contacted via e-mail some US universities that accept Spring admissions (I checked it on their websites). However, most of those universities said that "very few students are admitted for Spring", "we admit for Spring only if there are available spots" or "if a professor requests a Spring admission for a certain student, we can consider it". Based on all these answers, I understand that most of those universities does not have a cohort for Spring admitted students, but can accept some students occasionally according to the department’s needs. As the main term of admission is Fall, I am afraid that Spring admissions for engineering graduate programs are so less common (or rare) that it might not worth the try. My point is: does a Spring application worth the try for most engineering PhD programs? Has anyone here ever been admitted for Spring in a Chemical Engineering graduate program (or related areas) in a US university? Thanks in advance!
  4. I'm just wondering if anyone else is starting the waiting game with me for CSUN's online Master's in Communicative Disorders, Spring 2019?
  5. Hey Everyone! I wanted to see if anyone else is applying to Spring 2019 at Hunter for social work? I applied and am having my in-person interview next Monday. Really nervous! Any tips or past experiences? Thanks!
  6. Hello! I am applying for spring 2019 speech language pathology graduate programs. Many of the forums I’ve seen are for fall applicants, so I thought I would create one for those of us applying to spring admit programs. Most of the due dates have passed now, so I’m just waiting each day for some good news. -Where did you apply? -Any thoughts or concerns?
  7. Hi! So I'm incredibly disappointed, upset, and stressed right now. I applied to 6 schools, and I was very confident that at least one was going to accept me with an assistantship (because the director had implied so). I have been rejected from all 6.. and I'm not sure what's next. My cumulative GPA is the sole reason (I've been told by directors) of being rejected; it's a 3.1. My last 60 hours and CSD GPA are both a 3.7, my minor GPA (psychology) is a 3.9, and my science GPA is a 3.5. My low cumulative is due to poor grades in math, and I have found out I likely have dyscalculia. During undergrad, I've been really sick, including having surgery. I was also sexually assaulted, which affected some of my prior grades. I explained all of this in my LOI and had a friend on an admissions panel read over it, who affirmed it was well-written and explained the situation well. I also included in the LOI that I'm passionate about CSD and changed to the major because my younger brother is autistic and nonverbal. I had professors I know well write my LORs. GRE scores are 167V, 149Q, and 4AW. The problem is my GPA, but it can't be raised much because I have 160 credit hours, so even straight A's don't make much of a difference. I thought about getting a different master's degree, but I can't seem to find many relevant degrees with deadlines that haven't yet passed. I found out through hands-on observations that M.Ed in SpEd isn't a good option for me because if I don't get in next year, I would not be happy as a SpEd teacher. I've considered dyslexia, psychology, ABA, and child development degrees. I have a background in ABA, but the program deadlines have passed. I have the ABA instructional hours required to be an RBT... but I don't think I like it enough for a career, anyway. Child Life would potentially be a good fit for me, but those jobs appear to be difficult to come by. Ideally, I would be in grad school and none of this would matter. I also looked into spring programs. The following schools offer spring admission: Valdosta State, UT Dallas, UT San Antonio, South Dakota, Central MO, Central Florida, TN State, TAMU Kingsville, Baylor, and Alabama A&M. Any insight here? If applying to spring programs, should I spend the fall semester finishing my second bachelor's degree in psychology (including retaking stats for my CCC) or should I apply to a master's program and potentially leave for an SLP program after a semester? What are your suggestions for 1) reapplying 2) alternate master's programs 3) alternate career paths Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  8. It's only been four days since the Oct 1 application, and the wait is already unbearable. It's my first time applying to graduate school, and I'm applying to the only Spring school in Florida: UCF. Should that fail, I'll apply to the rest of the FL schools for Fall. Sigh. (My stats: applying for Speech-Language Pathology, am bilingual SLP-A cGPA: 3.48 CSD/Last 60: 3.7 GRE: 154Q / 159V/ 4.0w) How do you keep yourself distracted while waiting for decisions? What are you applying for? How do you mentally prepare yourself for the uncertainty of the decision?
  9. Has anyone heard back yet from UT on their 2018 spring application for the MSSW program? I know the deadline was only four days ago but I just wanted to check in and see! Good luck to everyone!

  13. Hi, I couldn't find any thread or many people who'd be joining NYU Courant in Masters of Computer Science (or any other School/Program). So if you're interested, we can get to know each other as fellow classmates and probably help ourselves find housing etc.
  14. Hello everyone! If you are planning on applying to ENMU for their CDIS graduate program, you may or may not already be aware that you will have to be on-campus for your first semester. With that being said, if you are looking for on-campus housing for the Spring 2017 semester, I am looking for someone to take over my lease for the Spring 2017 semester. I am staying at San Juan Villages, an apartment community right across the street from the speech clinic! Super convenient and close by- and rent is only $480 a month including utilities, gas, electric, EVERYTHING! If you are interested, or would like more information, feel free to send me a message.
  15. Hello All, What is the deadline for Spring Application in Computer Science? Is it still possible to apply for Fall 2016? I searched a number of Universities but all the deadlines have passed for Fall.
  16. Hi guys, has anyone applied for a graduate program in University of Calgary for spring 2016 ? Is it absolutely necessary to get a supervisor before admission decision are made for their research based masters ? Some other schools admit before u get to pick a supervisor.

  18. Hi everyone! I just began my MPH this semester and I love learning, but I think I would like to finish next December instead of the following May if possible. My only concern is that this will be a lot of work to cram in. I would have to take 14 hours this Spring and next Fall as well as 6 hours (hopefully online) over the Summer while doing a Practicum. Has anyone done this before? Is it doable? I searched the forums and didn't find anything like this. If someone could help me out, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
