  1. Hi All I had posted this elsewhere originally but I think I put it in the wrong place, because nobody replied..and surely there are people out there who have applied to this program haha. I'm new to this website so I do not really know what I am doing, buttttt I thought I’d start a thread for everyone who has applied for Fall 2022 to NYU for their MA Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness. I just submitted my application for the online program this last week after turning down an offer from Northwestern University. Would love to connect with others who have also applied for Fall if you’ve already been accepted, congrats!! If youve attended this program, please feel free to share your experience. Have a great day! -Jen #mentalhealthcounseling #MACounseling #NYU
  2. Hi, I am receiving a lot of mixed feedback about NYU Steinhardt's online master's program. I got accepted there and at another school but I would be required to move. I don't know if I should choose the program where I would get to be in the classroom (but move across the country) or pick the school where I get to stay home and do it online.. I think hearing from students who actually went through the program or even know someone who went through the program would be really helpful. Please let me know anything you know about NYU Steinhardt's online full-time master's program.
  3. Any other international students out there in the process of accepting an offer to NYU for the Fall 2020 semester during the COVID-19 pandemic? Have you started your i-20 application? I was hoping to attend Steinhardt for the Fall, but with everything going on, the uncertainty has me anxious in moving forward with my acceptance. Considering the cost of tuition, finding living arrangements, and other expenses, has the pandemic changed your plans? As of now, NYU plans to have in person classes this Fall, but who knows how things will move forward... Do you think it's worth the cost for online classes? Have any of you experienced any other updates other than the extended tuition deposit deadline? Sorry for the amount of questions, but I haven't been able to connect with anyone in regards to the topic. Thank you!
  4. Anyone hear back from NYU Steinhardt for the Food Studies MA? Can't seem to find much info on it anywhere
  5. Has anyone heard back for the International Education MA at NYU for fall/summer 2017? Decisions were out by now last year but some years it looks like they took closer til the end of March. Or has anyone spoken to admissions and have an idea when they'll go out?
  6. I was accepted to Steinhardt on March 23rd and still haven't received my financial aid award. The financial aid office keeps giving me the "it should be ready in 3-5 business days" runaround. Has anyone else received their financial aid package from NYU? I'm starting in the summer so it's really ridiculous that fees are due for summer classes in 3 weeks and I don't even know if my financial aid will even be here in time to pay for it. This is also preventing me from being able to register for summer classes.
  7. I'm trying to decide between these two schools for a masters in Communicative Sciences and Disorders. I visited Teachers College and was very impressed by their overall program curriculum, their strong commitment to multiculturalism/bilingualism, and how smoothly they integrate the necessary prerequisites into their grad program (I'm an out-of-field applicant). However, it seems that their facilities were slightly outdated, and their research focus may not be as strong or as broad as NYU's? I wasn't able to attend NYU's admitted students day, so I haven't gotten to speak with any current grad students or faculty members, tour their facilities, or get a sense of the overall "vibe" of the program. I'm also concerned that NYU might not be the best choice for an out-of-field applicant such as myself... this is the first year they're integrating the prerequisites into their grad program, and all of those prereqs will be offered as online courses instead of in-person. Anybody else in a similar situation? Or has anybody visited both schools... in your opinion, what were the pros/cons of each? Thanks in advance!
  8. Oh, the anticipation... The "end of November" decision timeframe is slipping by and all's quiet on the eastern front. Anyone heard back from NYU Steinhardt for the Nutrition MS, Spring 2017? I swear, every time I get an email my heart jumps!
  9. I applied kind of late (day before the deadline lol) to the Masters in clinical nutrition and dietetics at Steinhardt and still have heard nothing? Has anyone else heard anything? I'm going insane
  10. Has anyone had an interview or received information about the Phd in Educational Leadership at NYU Steinhardt? Results are to be mailed out end of March/early April, but the wait is killing me. Anyone?
  11. Hello everyone, I've applied to NYU's Steinhardt's Graduate TESOL program with Initial Certification for the Spring 2012 semester. The deadline was November 1st, however, my applicatoin was submitted early around October 10th, 2011. I'm wondering if any of you have also applied for the spring semester at NYU Steinhardt and for those of you who have been accepted or have any information on when they will let you know of their decision? I'm applying from out of state in Atlanta, GA and I have many concerns such as housing and moving etc...however, when I contact their graduate admissions office, all I get is, "the turn around is quick"...and I get no real accurate date. I would sincerely appreciate any information that any of you have to help relieve even a small bit of anxiety to a fellow prospective grad student. Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
  12. I am having trouble deciding between NYU's Gallatin MA program and Steinhardt's Media, Culture & Communications MA. My research areas fit well in both programs, but I am wondering which program will be most helpful when I apply for the PhD. I already live in NYC, and have other offers; however, I have narrowed my choices down to these programs. Forgoing the MA and applying directly to PhD programs next year is not an option. At first I was hesitant because I heard it is difficult to get GA or TA spots in Gallatin, but after talking to current students in both programs, it looks as if it is difficult (but not impossible) in either scenario. Is Gallatin considered more academically rigorous? Gallatin students undergo a three reader thesis defense process, where Steinhardt only asks MA students to complete a shorter thesis with one reader and there is no defense requirement. Will it be more beneficial to me down the line to be part of a cohesive department? Steinhardt's program would give me a degree in something specific, whereas Gallatin just awards an MA in Individualized Study. I already have an interdisciplinary BA from a top LAC... I am leaning toward the MCC MA, especially because the department has been very communicative since I recieved notification of my admission. I just worry that it is considered less "academic" somehow because it is a media/culture/comm program? I want to make sure I make the decision that will give me the best opportunity to pursue serious scholarship. Anyone care to weigh in?
  13. Hi All - I just received my acceptance letter from NYU Steinhardt MA in Art Therapy (crazy excited!), but the letter indicates I will receive my financial aid package "in the next few weeks", and that I must accept by 3/15 for my spot to be held. However, I may not hear from the School of Visual Arts (the other program I am interested in) until early March and, if accepted, may not receive my financial aid package until well after 3/15. Has anyone else dealt with a situation like this and, if so, am I just SOL or are graduate programs (like NYU) flexible in these dates? I just want to have all the necessary information in front of me so I can make an educated and thorough decision - THIS IS A LOT OF MONEY I also plan on contacting NYU directly about this as well...but, am looking for for "street level" assistance! Thanks for any information/advice you may have!
  14. Has anyone heard anything yet? The last thing I heard was that decisions were still being made, but this was on Jan. 25 so it's been a while.
