  1. Hey everyone! Is anyone else torn between NYU vs Teachers College for a MA in Psychology? I feel like I'm leaning towards Teachers College, but I honestly don't know which school is better. My ultimate goal is to obtain a doctorate after I complete the Masters program. Thanks!
  2. I'm considering Teacher's College! Does anyone attending TC want to talk about it with me? Please message me if possible!

    HGSE Fall 2019 applications

Hi all, I've 6 years of work experience in sales and marketing consulting, and 7+ years in social space as a volunteer for educational initiatives, including leading the CSR engagements at my firm for over 4 years now. I'm now looking for opportunities to move full-time in this space, so am planning a masters in education as a first step because that's where my heart lies; I've worked in education for the last 7 years on a pro-bono/voluntary basis over and above my full-time job. GRE: VA - 154, QA - 165, AWA - 4 TOEFL: Result awaited GPA: Yet to do a WES evaluation, but I've 80.59% from Delhi University in India. Work Ex: 6 years in Sales and Marketing Consulting Pro-Bono/Voluntary experience: 7+ years in Education , including leading the CSR engagements for over 4 years now. I'm leading the engagements with a learning centre near my office, and have designed 3 programs - Math/Science remedial, Spoken English, and Career Counseling. Masters Programs I'll be applying for fall 2019: IEP/TIE at HGSE (can anyone help me figure out), IED at TC, UCB programs, SSCE at UCLA, Upenn I'm more inclined to US programs because of the job prospects, but would like to hear reviews about UCL, Oxford, and Cambridge (EU vs. US). I aim to leverage my corporate experience experience and work in international education space, either in content building, policy implementation, or school leadership. I know 3 options is a long list but will want the program to help make a better choice. My objective is to improve the overall quality of education and change the way we teach. We have been teaching the same age-old skills and curriculum which is not even relevant in the modern day. It will be great if you can help me choose programs where I can leverage my consulting/corporate skills. Anyone who has made a successful switch from corporate to education, or is planning to do so? I'm more inclined to 1 year programs. Any leads will be appreciated!
  4. Hi all, I am admitted to Columbia University (Teachers College)- Mental Health Counseling E.d.M, and USC- Marriage and Family Therapy, Master I was thinking with a Columbia degree it will work great for me in the job market, no matter where I go. However, I did some research but some people said that teachers college is not as good as Columbia and some people even see it as separate or affiliated. So I'm not quite sure now. For USC it will work great because I'd love to work in CA and I will be getting CA's license and networking so that'll be nice. I want to work in the U.S. but I don't know if that's possible as an international counselor in the U.S... How likely am I going to get sponsorship? Anyone has suggestions? Anyone knows anything about TC? or the programs? I'll really appreciated any comments/ concerns.

    Funding at Teacher's College

Got into TC Ed.D program. No news of funding yet. Anyone heard back about funding from them? or if you are a current student, whats the funding like?
  6. I'm trying to decide between these two schools for a masters in Communicative Sciences and Disorders. I visited Teachers College and was very impressed by their overall program curriculum, their strong commitment to multiculturalism/bilingualism, and how smoothly they integrate the necessary prerequisites into their grad program (I'm an out-of-field applicant). However, it seems that their facilities were slightly outdated, and their research focus may not be as strong or as broad as NYU's? I wasn't able to attend NYU's admitted students day, so I haven't gotten to speak with any current grad students or faculty members, tour their facilities, or get a sense of the overall "vibe" of the program. I'm also concerned that NYU might not be the best choice for an out-of-field applicant such as myself... this is the first year they're integrating the prerequisites into their grad program, and all of those prereqs will be offered as online courses instead of in-person. Anybody else in a similar situation? Or has anybody visited both schools... in your opinion, what were the pros/cons of each? Thanks in advance!
  7. Can anyone speak to either of these programs? Better yet, can anyone tell me how Computing in Education at TC is viewed, in comparison to Instructional Technology & Media?

    Ed.M Admissions at TC

So I applied for the Doctoral program at Teachers College, but was admitted to the Ed.M for curriculum and teaching . What does this mean? Will I be easily able to enroll in the Doctoral program when I complete this program. Why does this program exist? What funding amounts are available and have you all received? I already Have a Master's in Education in Teaching English as a second language. This program is a costly.
  9. Hello! I'm interested in applying to the Doctor of Education in SLP at TC Columbia in the future and would like to get some information from anyone who attended or has applied. I'm interested in knowing how the program is structured (classes, research, and possibility of having a job while studying), how selective the application process is, how much work experience applicants typically have and so on. I'm also wondering if there is any funding available (I've heard it's scarce) and whether the experience overall was a good one. I hope to get a Bilingual Extension Institute certificate from TC before applying for the doctorate and possibly get a better idea about the school. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!
  10. Hello! I am graduating with a Master's degree in speech-language pathology and happen to be bilingual. I am interested in pursuing a certificate offered by the TC Bilingual Extension Institute and would really appreciate impressions from people who've attended the bilingual extension or applied. I would like to know how selective the application process is (especially for non-degree seekers), what the lectures are like, and how have the seminars benefited you clinically and/or professionally. Are the lectures mostly geared towards the educational setting or are they applicable to other SLP settings? And finally, is the emphasis on Spanish-English bilinguals or multicultural clients in general? Thank you!!
