  1. I plan to do my masters in Mechanical Engineering and the area of concentration which I have chosen is Fluid and Thermal Sciences. I have admits from NCSU (for Fall 2018) and from USC (for Spring 2019). Which one shall I go for and why?
  2. Hello everyone ! I applying for masters in Mechanical engineering in the field of thermal and renewable energy in Canada for Fall-2018, GPA: 8.01/10 IELTS: 8 (L8.5, R9.0, S8.0, W6.5) Current position: Research Assistant at a Thermal Science laboratory, Teaching assistant for two courses at a University Projects: 1) Numerical investigation of refrigerant adsorption on activated carbon 2) Senior year thesis project on space heating using solar energy, wrote a paper to an international journal, currently under review. 3) Research project on Combustion at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India 4) Synthesising and characterizing Iron oxide nanoparticles for magnetic hyperthermia applications. Extracurricular activities: 1) Captain of SAE-Efficycle team 2) Captain of University Gokart team. 3) 1st Runner up at Technical poster presentation at an international Conference LORs: One from my current project professor and one from HOD of my University, expect both to be strong, additional recommenders include professor at IIT-Madras SOP: Well written, written according to each University directing specific professors and Departments. 4. Hi guys, first post here, so I hope I get some replies. Im an international student, and have got admission into the MS programmes in mechanical engineering at UIUC and Purdue. I am also quite sure that i'll receive an admit from michigan and georgia tech. The question now is, that based on my interest in thermal sciences, how should I choose between them assuming: a ) I dont get an RAship from UIUC b ) I get an RAship from UIUC (to explain, I might get an RAship from UIUC ) Thus the second question: if I dont secure an RAship now, what is the probability of securing an RAship or TAship, once I join one of the universities. Any thermal seniors who might be able to guide me would be welcome....
