  1. Hello Everyone, Earlier threads on UCR seem to have been from 2014 and before, so I thought I'd start a new thread. I am almost sure that I will be attending UCR as a PhD student in the Dept. of Political Science. Would love to start a conversation with anyone else who is going to UCR or even considering going there this fall!
  2. I've received my uchicago admission about a month ago. The advisor assigned to me is a high-rank professor and I've discussed the type of research we're going to do. The funding is really good, and they also support the cost of my travel to Chicago. My UC Riverside admission came about a week ago. A professor has been assigned to me (I don't have much info about him, though the h-index is much less). The funding is just enough to survive, and that's it! Yet, I know that UC Riverside is a U of C, and has it's own benefits. And the University of Chicago is in top 10 schools in the worl
  3. Dear All, Background: Currently I have 3 admits so far and I am torn between them. I am from a small state school and all of these admissions are top notch and beyond what I ever expected to gain admit to. I am also only trying to achieve my masters because I wish to go to industry and the pay bump for having a PhD isn't worth it if you're aiming for industry. Note: I have no debt from my undergraduate so I am willing to pay for masters because I believe I will be able to manage to pay it off for a two years masters. I just don't want to spend extra $$$ for a minute difference between sch
  4. Hey fellas, How's it goin' for ya? I'm still waiting for a single admission. no answer up to now. ucsd, uci, northeastern -> chemical engineering ucr, uic ,uiuc -> bioengineering all phd. is there anybody heard from these programs at these univs? should I have hope for any admission letter? ------------------------------profile------------------------------------ TOEFL:104-IELTS:7-GRE GENERAL:146(v)168(q)-GPA:3.60 with a year or two related research exprience.
  5. I applied for Ph.D. in Computer Science at University of California, Riverside (UCR) for Fall 2016. I took the standardized tests (GRE and TOEFL) at the eleventh hour. Hence my application materials (SOP, Personal Statement, CV etc) was not so well off. Moreover, my TOEFL speaking score was low. I was rejected by UCR. Now I retook may TOEFL and scored better. As I have times, so I think my application package will be better. Will there be any problem if I reapply to the same program? If no, then should I use the same account to reapply this year or create a new account? Thanks in ad
  6. I got this mail in the morning today. Dear CS MS Applicant, We would like to invite you to apply to the Master's program in Computer Engineering at the University of California, Riverside. You were selected because your application to the CS MS program at UCR was reviewed well, but due to the very high competition you may not be offered admission. Because time is short, you must apply within a week of receiving this email. One you apply, we will use the application materials(GREs, recommendation letters etc.) from your previous application to the CS MS program to evaluate your app
