  1. Has anyone heard back from mechanical at UMN? The FAQ said it'll start rolling admissions from January end. A professor said that he'll recommend me to the admission committee, yet the silence is making me anxious to the point where I do nothing all day but keep checking email and portal.
  2. Hello all, So, I have a tough decision to make. I have struggled to find out what I want to do as a career then I came across SLP. I researched it and learned about it from my sister, who just passed her PRAXIS for SLP. I knew this would be something I would enjoy doing. I love the idea of it, it is very interesting to me, I love working with kids, and I would like to work in a hospital or school. However, I do not have a very good GPA and I am nervous about being screwed in life if I don't end up getting into a masters program for SLP even if I reapply and don't get in because I don
  3. I had initially decided to attend UMN starting Fall 2017 (MS Electrical Engineering). However, I received an admit from USC for the Spring 2018 term and I'm having a hard time choosing between the two. I realize that USC is more expensive than UMN and getting a TA/RA position may not be possible at USC. With those factors in mind, are there any significant advantages in choosing USC over UMN? My area of interest is Signal Processing.
  4. As with all gigantic life decisions, I am teetering back and forth on which school/program to attend and ultimately getting nowhere. That is why I have decided to reach out to the collective wisdom of you all on Grad Cafe to hopefully give me some insight on which program would be the best for me or at least verify that my concerns are valid. Unfortunately, outside of dealing with Russian Affairs, I have not fully committed to a specific concentration of Global Public Policy (ei Security Policy, Human Rights Policy, Global Governance, etc..). Also, after browsing a few other posts regardi
  5. I have received admits from both Arizona State University and University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in Electrical Engineering. My area of interest is Signal Processing, and I am having some difficulty in deciding between the two. Any help in deciding between the two in terms of job opportunities, faculty etc. would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Hi all, I've been accepted to PhD in Biostat at Vanderbilt and I'm also on the waiting list of University of Minnesota. I like Vandy but it's a relatively new program. I know UMN has a great biostat program, but Minnesota is really cold and I'm not sure if I can stand it. Should I wait for UMN? Is there much difference if I choose Vandy instead of UMN? I really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
  7. Hello all! I was recently admitted to the Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology Program at the University of Minnesota! I am very excited, but won't have a chance to visit the school before I respond to the decision. I was wondering if anyone on here has any information about the school, the city, or the program that they would be able to share. I know it is well rated, but I would love to hear some insight about what it is like to go here. How are the clinical placements and faculty? Does anyone have any positive or negative experiences with the program that they would be wil
  8. Hey I just got the official offer from umn. Is there anyone who might go for umn? I haven's seen much discussion on umn, quite curious the reason. Anyone have any info to share? My research topic would be MRI acquisition and reconstruction. I heard that MRI research at UMN is pretty well-known and great, is that true? I am an international student currently in California for an exchange year. I would love to have any any advice, information from you guys. Thanks!
  9. Hi All. Anyone know or have experience about the MPP program in Humphrey school (UMN - twin cities)? I can only find limited information in the forum. I searched for some rankings, this school shows fine rank. In addition, my friend who visited UMN told me it is a very good school. And most importantly, this school gives me best impression in application process because of their professional service and their staff's patience. I am really interested in this school even though I also got other admissions from GPPI, SIPA etc. Now I need some kind guys who can offer me any information about th
