  1. Looks like some people have been contacted for phone interviews by PIs...does anyone know if this is the standard? Or perhaps just PIs that have multiple applicants interested in working with them? Wondering if no phone call means your application is no longer in the running.
  2. So, I've been waiting for a month and a half now and my status is still 'Awaiting Program Decision'. Sending the department an email just returns an automated generic BS bot reply. April 15th is coming up and I have two offers. UofM is above these in my list. I'm still waiting, anyone heard if the results are out yet for CS Masters program?
  3. After much consideration, I have narrowed it down to these 2 programs. I came from a Biology and Statistics background in undergrad. However, I mostly had experience on wet lab biology as I thought I wanted to go into research, which I didn’t. Long story short, I want to pursue data science as my career now, and I’m wondering which program would be more suitable for me. I’m more inclined towards Galvanize as it’s more industry-focused and the internship will give me so much more hands-on experience. I also think that SF is also more beneficial in terms of networking with people in this field.
  4. My end goal is to teach at a top 40 university. Trying to weigh the pros/cons of attending: University of Minnesota - Twin Cities - I've had more contact with the faculty (plus one of my recommenders insists it's a better fit) - better funding package (with graduate assistantship + nominated for an award = possibly more funding) - higher ranked (#20 vs. #28 according to the USWNR) --> can anyone speak to the validity of this claim? - houses an Immigration History Research Center and the Minnesota Population Center (two programs related to my resea

  6. I'm strongly considering the University of Minnesota (fully-funded offer, good fit, cool city, excellent resources, e.g. Minnesota Population Center, etc.) According to different ranking systems (USWNR, Princeton), they're consistently in the top 20-25 and have a 94% placement record. I also came across this PhD pipeline report from Cornell: https://blogs.cornell.edu/facultydevelopment/files/2016/01/Sociology-Pipeline-Report-1jh8i9h.pdf Btw, what are "pipeline calculations" exactly? Universities that are given first/priority considerations when hiring new faculty?
  7. Did anybody get decision or interviewed? It has been more than 6 weeks after deadline (1st December). Yet, haven't seen a single post in the result section.
  8. I got an admission mail to the graduate program in Applied Economics a couple of weeks ago. In this mail they said that if I intend to enroll, I must complete the Enrollment Form in the Apply Yourself online admissions system but I can’t find it. Does anyone have the same problem or know what to do? Thanks!
  9. Hello all! I was recently admitted to the Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology Program at the University of Minnesota! I am very excited, but won't have a chance to visit the school before I respond to the decision. I was wondering if anyone on here has any information about the school, the city, or the program that they would be able to share. I know it is well rated, but I would love to hear some insight about what it is like to go here. How are the clinical placements and faculty? Does anyone have any positive or negative experiences with the program that they would be wil
