  1. Hey guys, this is my first time on here. I was wondering if you all could give me your honest opinions on if you think I have a shot at getting into a graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology- specifically USF/UCF/FIU/FSU. My GRE scores are a 4 AWA, 149 Verbal, and 146 Quant. My GPA is a 3.48 and I only have about a month of experience. But, I have 3 great letters of recommendations from professors and I think my Statement of Intent is good. Now, I know none of what I just said sounds (is) competitive at all. But, do you think I have somewhat of a chance of getting into... something? I've heard about Nova but the tuition is really expensive. I graduate in May 2020 too. I know I should probably take a year to bring up my GRE scores and get more experience, but (for some reason), I feel like I'm on a time crunch. Ugh, this has already turned into an essay too. I just want to see what you guys think... Thanks everyone.
  2. Hi, trying to connect with other people who might be attending USF this fall for SLP. Is there a facebook page or anything? And out of curiousity, why did you choose them?
  3. I am deciding between USF, UNC Chapel Hill, MGH and NYMC. USF is by far the cheapest (by a landslide), but all of their classes are 3 hour evening classes, and I don't know how I feel about this. I don't think you learn as well this way. I'm interested in the medical aspect, but every source has said that which school you go to doesn't matter. The cost is important to me because I'm relying on loans and outside scholarships for living expenses, travel expenses, etc. I work but I only make like $11/hour right now. What do you think about having all evening classes? Do you know how common this is among other programs? The purpose is so that you are free during the day for clinicals. USF has over 200 clinical placement sites! Does anyone have any first hand experience about the other programs? If there are any great advantages? Thanks so much for taking the time to read this post!!
  4. Hi! I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the SLP programs at UCF and USF. I am an out of state applicant and I won't be able to visit these schools before making my decision. Thank you!
  5. Has anyone accepted audiology program admission at USF?
  6. Hello Grad Cafe Forum! I have yet to see a USF forum and thought I would start one. I am applying for the Ed.D in International and Multicultural Education program with a concentration in Human Rights Education. Does anybody know what their acceptance rates are like? I guess I am just really nervous about the GRE since I haven't taken it yet.. Thanks in advance!!
  7. So far I have been accepted to USF - UF - FSU - Vanderbilt - Nebraska. I am still waiting on Baylor, and I doubt I will attend either of the other two I am waiting on. So if any graduate student has any feedback about any of these schools, I would love to hear it! Right now Vanderbilt is my first choice, but obviously finances play a partial role in the decision, and I still don't have all the information yet. One of my other main concerns is to have a lot of freedom in my choice of clinical setting, and my primary interest right now is Medical SLP. Also, for UF I could feasibly live at home, which is an hour away. Is this doable?
  8. I was wait listed at USF, and I was wondering if anyone else who was wait listed has heard back yet?
  9. I received an email weeks ago from the USF graduate admission office about missing materials, such as transcripts, GRE, etc. However the instructions on the USF website as well as CSDCAS said to send official transcripts and GRE scores only to CSDCAS, which I did and uploaded unofficial copies like it suggested to their FACTS online application. I emailed them back right away at the address they provided and have yet to hear anything back, and my application status on the USF website still says incomplete. Has anyone else had this issue and/or know if I should be worried about my application falling through the cracks?
  10. Hello everyone. I applied for the MSW program at USF. I submitted my application in late November and everything was finalized (LOR's included) in early December. I am wondering if anyone else out there has applied and if they have heard anything yet. I was told they started reviewing apps already. Has anyone applied and not been accepted? Anyone out there in the program or have ever been in it and care to share their opinion? Thanks!
