    Need Help?

Hello Aspiring Art Students, I am a long time follower of this forum - it helped me immensely when I was applying to grad schools myself. I have been perusing some of these recent threads, and a lot of you seem to have many unanswered questions about how this all works - and "this" can encompass many things. I work in art academia currently, and I will be the first to admit that the grad school application process is mystifying while pertinent information is often elusive. I struggled with this exact problem during my time looking at grad schools. But having now been through the process
  3. Hello to allI am planning to start an MA/MFA in visual arts this upcoming fall and have been offered places both at RCA and at Goldsmiths. The program at RCA seems to relate more to my work and I had a better feel during my interview with them; but I like the possible interaction at Goldsmiths with other faculties and err...I'm still on the fence. (Note: I haven't studied arts into now and haven't been to London before). Has anyone attended any of these programs/could give some insight ?many thanks in advance !
  4. I'm preparing myself for an interview (and hopefully more), so I thought it'd be nice to have a new interview thread for this year. I'm copying and pasting the questions from last year's thread. Common Questions Visual Arts Applicants are Asked During an Interview How does your work fit in with the contemporary art world/scene? Why do you want to go to XXXXX? Why do you want to go to grad school? Why now? What resources of this program will be the biggest benefit to your development as an artist? What is your work about? What are your influences? What
  5. Long time lurker, first time poster. The reason I am posting is because I keep trying to find answers but I have so many problems and hope perhaps someone else had a similar situation or knows of something I have not tried. I have a BFA with a concentration in Illustration and a minor in Graphic Design. When I was in undergrad every time I went to my adviser (who also happened to be the dean of the art department) about something I did not feel I was learning their stock answer was almost always "go to grad school." Me: "I need help with a website to showcase my portfolio and j

  7. Hi, I am a B.A(Hons.) Political Science graduate from India. I have always been interested in arts but never thought of it as a career choice earlier. However, now, I am a painter and a studio potter. Have hosted a painting exhibition last year and is planned for Dec 2011. Also, as far as pottery is concerned, I have been attending a private course for the past 6 months and have starting producting my own pottery work (beginner). Now since I have already taken it up as a career choice, I would like to gain a professional degree in Visual Arts from a reputed Art School. I just wanted to
