Hi, I have received several math phd program offers including Wisconsin Madison, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Texas A&M. I am now interested in analysis and differential equations, having learnt some basic knowledge about viscous conservation laws and infinite dimensional Morse theory. Please help me about selecting a fit program for me. Any related information would be appreciated.

Hello, I have applied to the Mechanical Engineering Masters program for Fall 16 at University of Wisconsin Madison. After applying I noticed that I had to secure an advisor, So I emailed 3 POIs (whom I've named in my SOP) that I am interested in their work, neither of them replied but my advisor requirement got checked off (though I don't know who my advisor is). Is that a good thing? does it mean a good chance of getting admitted? Also I did not see an option in the application form to upload my CV or resume, so naturally I did not submit it but my status shows that they have all the materials they need to make a decision. How can they judge a profile without a resume? How am I supposed to let them know about my projects, papers or work experience (kinda the backbone of my application)? Wisconsin Application process for Mechanical Engineering is pretty WEIRDDD!!

Does anybody have any insight into what the culture of the program at Wisconsin is like now that they have switched to smaller cohorts/guaranteed funding? I realize that in the past Wisconsin has been characterized as overly competitive since funding was not guaranteed. If they had not made the change, I would be wary of attending their program. However, since the change was recently instituted in the Fall of 2011, I'm not sure what to expect if I did enroll. Anybody have any insight or ideas about what to expect?
