  1. I want to learn more about science and environment so that I can report on issues in these areas with more authority. I was a really good biology student in high school, but could not continue it. What programs can I consider now? I'm 26, and a fairly accomplished journalist with 5 years of experience covering pharmaceuticals and healthcare in India for an international news agency. Thanks in advance for any thoughts/ideas/suggestions.
  2. Hello, I am from Zoology background(finished my Masters last month) wanting to shift paths to Biological Anthropology (interested in nonhuman primate behaviour). I do not have a lot of research experience;I have researched/interned with about four institutions(among which two are directly related to primatology) and have got two more coming up (all at well-known organizations/institutions) I been looking at many universities in the US and Canada that offer PhD in Biological Anthropology and have seen a couple of programs, all of which look out of reach. T_T I would really appreciate it if someone could provide me with some insight about the requirements or accepted student profiles. I am also preparing for my GRE;have given a few mock tests and getting average scores ( V- 156-164 and Q-151-154) I will be giving my TOEFL this fall since I'm an international student. Any information will be appreciated !
  3. Hi all, I'm wondering if anybody has heard back from either the Nelson Institute programs (Environment & Resources) or the Zoology department. I applied to both and had (what I thought, at least) a nice exchange with the PI I'd like to work with, but both applications are still pending on the UW-M site. I've gotten some nice offers from other schools, but UW-M would still be in the running if they give an offer. From my experiences so far with rejections, I would assume that no answer by now means no offer, but since only 1-2 people have posted about the Nelson Institute so far and in past years Zoology people didn't hear back until mid/late March, I'm inclined to be hopeful. Has anybody heard anything from these programs or, if you happen to be in either of the programs, is the wait time normal?? Thanks!
