How do I know a lab is well-funded?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I recently was admitted into a program in Molec. Bio + Genetics, and I'm looking at potential advisors. Are there any resources outside of the dept. website that can provide details on a particular lab's funding? If not, should I assume that a high number of recent publications is a strong indication of adequate funding? Any ideas would really help me out. Thank you so much!

You can look them up on NIH Reporter or Research Crossroads and check out their funding situation. Make sure in the NIH Reporter to search all and not just active projects just to see how stable of funding they have had in the past.
