While still holding out some hope, it is looking fairly dismal for me in terms of interviews this application season (UC Davis, UCSD, UPenn, Princeton, Duke, Texas A&M) as I may have underestimated how stiff the competition would be ?‍♀️. I was hoping some of you on here could help me out in terms of internships/experience that would help me out for the next time I apply! I am already planning on applying for the NIH IRTA, but was unsure of any other opportunities to apply for as I am currently in a Masters program and will be graduating in the spring. Many opportunities I have seen are for those in undergrad or just after graduation, so if anyone is aware of anything that allows students with a Masters degree please let me know!

Northwestern has an excellent post bacc neuroscience program that you qualify for as long as you obtained your bachelor's less than three years ago, http://www.nuin.northwestern.edu/postbac-program/ .  MIT bcs also has a great post bacc program which accepts people with Master degrees as well as long you have a bachelor's in a stem field https://bcs.mit.edu/academic-program/post-baccalaureate-research-scholars-program-brain-and-cognitive-science.  If a post bacc program isn't really what you're looking for I would highly recommend applying for a research assistant position at janelia https://www.janelia.org.  You could also look into janelia's undergraduate scholars program.  It is targeted towards undergrads, but as long as you haven't committed to a PhD program yet; the down side is that this program is extremely competitive and only lasts 10 weeks https://www.janelia.org/you-janelia/students-postdocs/undergraduate-scholars-program.

Has anyone heard from Columbia Neurobiology and behavior for the theoretical neuroscience track?

I applied for the theoretical neuro track and received an interview invite yesterday morning. It may be worthwhile to email them and ask if they're done sending invites. I did that for UW back when they just finished releasing their invites and got a fast response.

Has anyone heard back from University of Minnesota?

I got an email from them on 12/20:

I hope this letter finds you well and I am grateful for the time you took to consider and apply to our Graduate Program in Neuroscience. After careful consideration of your submitted application materials to the Graduate Program in Neuroscience at the University of Minnesota, I have the pleasure to inform you that your application has passed our initial round of review. Our expert review panel found your application very competitive amongst the 175 applications received, moving it forward for further review onJanuary 7, 2019. Only 70 have advanced to this round, so let me congratulate you personally on this achievement thus far! I will be in contact with you shortly thereafter to provide you with an update about the status of your application. Please keep in mind that, if invited, our GPN

Retreat/Interview Weekend will take place on February 8-10, 2019.

Thank you again for applying to our Program and I wish you a Happy Holiday season!

On one hand, I'm glad they're so eager to keep me informed (certainly nobody else is). On the other hand, it's not a super useful piece of information, especially as they aren't telling us how many people are going to be invited to their interview.

Email or phone?

Email! I don’t know if it was a mass batch or not, but because they said in the previous email they will be deliberating for a few weeks and since their interview dates are pretty late, they could be sending out more

I did. The official interview invite came by email from the graduate program assistant.

From the results page it looks like most of the people who've received unofficial or official invites are international. I wonder if domestic applicants are reviewed later.

Maybe. I am not international, and I didn't receive an unofficial invite. I just received the official invite today.

I also got an official invite yesterday from the program assistant. I'm not international and I didn't get an unofficial invite before.
