American Studies Fall 2019??

Recommended Posts

Does anybody else freak out when they get financial aid emails, even from a program they haven't heard back from yet?

Has anyone who received the invite for the Yale webinar last week received an update notification regarding their application status yet stating whether they were rejected or acceptanced at this point? I’m just curious since I see some people who didn’t mention the invite have already already posted their results.

I’m confused...I don’t see any results posted for yale amst this year yet?

I saw some posted for a bunch of masters program applicants and literature/biology  PhD applicants last week and this week ...however I’m not sure if those literature and biology PhD applicants who posted their results this week were invited to that little webinar.

I'm in wait mode too. Applied to Yale. It appears from past years that sometime between February 15 and early March is our window to hear about Yale American Studies.

I was really hoping to hear from Brown, Michigan, and UCSD this week, but it's looking like not. I imagine next week will be dramatic for all of us...

There's still time for UCSD! Looks like they typically release acceptances about halfway through the month.

Ha, I think there's still time for all of them! Doesn't look like anyone's heard from any of them yet. Sick of waiting, though, inevitably.

Got an email from UCSD not too long after this post! Looks like we applied to different programs there, though.

Oh goodness, seeing this reply made my heart jump! I applied to Ethnic Studies, and hopefully I hear back soon!

Edit: Congratulations on the acceptance!

Exciting stuff- was accepted to the University of Michigan for American Studies. Just found out this morning.

Congratulations! Just out of curiosity do you mean American Culture? And do you think it’s safe to assume that if you haven’t heard anything today, that reject and/or waitlist is coming?

@jpbends anything from Irvine for you, yet? Nothing on my end. I’m gonna chalk it up as a rejection.

Haven't heard anything from Irvine yet today, but they've been really inconsistent with notification dates if I'm to believe the results page. I'm giving it until the 15th before I "give up" on them.

Still waiting, and didn’t hear anything. Also didn’t see any update on my application portal

Same, also just checked my application portal and no change.

Hi @rx971 I received this email about interviews. The text of the email was very vague / did not imply any sort of short list or how standard this process was. They asked me to block off an hour of time this coming Friday.

I'll definitely keep y'all updated.

Hey! Please update us on the interview, if you feel comfortable in doing so! In any case, hope you smashed it!!

Hi! So I actually had a rather interesting experience and am curious as to how other peoples' interviews went. It started an hour and a half later than I expected it to start (which wasn't a fun wait) and it lasted approximately 7 minutes long. The Director of Graduate Studies and two other senior faculty members were present during the interview. They asked me two questions: briefly explain my research interests and besides a professor I had previously worked with, who else would I want to work with. They gave me the chance to ask one question to them. And that was it! So, it was swift and don't really think accomplished that much overall.

But like I said, curious as to how others did!

Hi – interviewed today as well and had a very similar experience! Perhaps it was just a formality?
