Has anyone gotten into Yeshiva who is considering going there? Also has anyone heard good things about the program? I want to be a medical slp so I think it's a great program for someone like me.

I got accepted in December, and am waiting on other NY schools but I only have until March 6 to give them a deposit.

I would ask for an extension until other schools do make that decision. I wouldn't advise going there though. I got went to visit their campus and I suggest you do too. Apparently their in-house clinic is "non-operational." That was enough to dissuade me.

Hey do you mind sharing about your visit? I was told that a speech clinic was “in the works” but didn’t question it too hard because Yeshiva is a new program. I actually haven’t visited in person but got a good impression from the many conversations I had with admissions and program faculty. But obviously, I’d like to have a more full picture as I weigh my options. Thanks in advance!

Man, where do I begin. I STRONGLY suggest that you go in person. I'm not trying to dissuade you but during my impromptu tour of the campus (which is a stretch) the grad student who was giving me the tour told me herself to really really think it through and weigh in all my options and consider those instead. She wasn't outright telling me not to got there but anyone could've put 2 and 2 together. She didn't look happy being there one bit.

1. The campus - I was not one bit impressed with the "campus" and I've attended community college throughout my undergraduate studies. I've visit a number of campuses and the recurring thought when I made the visit was "where is the $79k tuition going?" I suspect the answer to that is marketing. The "campus" consist of 3 rusty old buildings suspended in 2-3 NYC blocks. Their buildings are in dire need of renovations/repairs. Eveyrhting is so tiny, especially the library, and there aren't any SLP books on reserve. At first glance it seriously make me questioned why this school was worth so much money.

2. The Clinic - Since the on-site clinic is non-operational (and don't let them BS you on otherwise), how much effective can one's performance truly be. Especially during the second year outside clinicals. As SLPs, our clinical performance outside of the school is dependent on our preparedness/on-site practice. Ask them about why they consider themselves to be a medically based program. I was told that their students only have about 3 facilities to choose from and most of the time it's not one of their choice. So for sure ask for clarification about the clinic and make sure that you're going to get the best out of our experience with them.

3. Marketing - From the website to their YouTube videos, and even the people who reaches out to you via email reminding you about your application (sometimes felt like pressuring since I started my application early and received 5-8 emails from them asking me to submit it) to the scholarship they give you (which will make you feel special, but remember it's $79k). Still, I have NEVER have a school ask for a $1,000 non-refundable commitment deposit with a 2 weeks notice. That's wild. I don't know who has that sort of money but I surely don't. If you don't pay it you lose your spot. I find it unethical for schools to do that and it's the most telling sign that a school is only interested in you because of money. Their program is new and not that great to be demanding that much from students and basically giving them ultimatums.

Anyway, those are my 3 cents. May not be that big of a deal to some people though, but to me they were.

Did you get an official email acceptance? I only recived a phone call saying I was accepted but never got an email or a letter.

I got an official letter via email. It wanted me to make $1,000 commitment deposit 2 weeks from the date I received it. It didn't explain much after that except to bring all official transcripts by June/July (can't remember), and that I would be doing a background check. Other schools were more thorough about the process tbh. Seemed like they were just trying to collect $1,000 as soon as possible, then details come later.

I'm in the same boat. I'm waiting for two other schools to give me a decision. I'm very upset that I have to make such a large deposit to reserve my seat with such limited time. I'm not to excited about the transportation to get here. I'm hoping to hear back from PACE and Touro before I pay this deposit.

I agree. It's wise to weigh in all of your options.

@Nessie0067 Thank you so much for your feedback! I got a 30k scholarship so it could end up being the cheapest tuition for a NY school, but still waiting on NYU for scholarship and Columbia decisions.

I was going to attend their open house, but I feel like you've explained what I would see lol. I am extremely interested in the medical side, which is why I applied but doesnt sound like you got a great feel from it.

I got accepted back in December, and they have extended the deposit for me twice now, but I agree its super unfair to require one before April 15th.

Def go to the open house. My experience and feel of it may not be the same for you. I'm so happy you were able to get that amount in scholarship. Did you apply to any other safety schools?

They are a fairly new program, I think this Fall will be their second cohort, the seats are very limited. I was told theres only 22 spots open for Fall admission. So far I've seen multiple people receive acceptance. They told me Mid April I'd hear back and I still haven't.
