COLUMBIA & NYU FALL 2020

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I know there are a lot of forums out there and everyone is posting about different schools. It seems like everyone is on a different step within the application process.

I wanted to start a new forum for those applicants that have applied to Columbia and NYU (doesn’t matter where you are in the process) so we can have a more specific forum and can ask questions and give answers that pertain to these two schools!

I will be visiting the city in a couple of weeks to make a decision... I have not received my financial aid from Columbia. NYU was on top of everything but their financial package is not as competitive as I hoped. Please let me know if you have any questions!! Good luck to everyone!

How much financial aid did NYU offer you? Perhaps it varies by program and department, but I was told that it was 28000 a year.

Hi hi. So I received $15k in scholarship (apparently that’s the highest NYU gives for msw?) I also have been granted work study and a lottttttt in loans....

I’m going to wait and see what Columbia offers...

Hi @Shayshay1331

The same happened to me. I received admission but no mentioning of any funding. I emailed them to ask about scholarship and they said that all their funding has already been used, so I guess I am just not receiving any, sadly. Which program did u apply to?

Hey @mferu, I did the same, emailed by department to verify and they said if I'd been a recipient I would have been notified in the acceptance letter. I'm on the MA in Human Rights Studies, what about you?

Received an acceptance letter from Columbia yesterday!! With the stipulation that I take some sort of pre-term Econ course (my undergrad Econ grades were pretty low so I get it).

They said they would follow up on funding? Not sure if that means I was actually awarded anything.

Anyone else accepted/receive any funding yesterday?

I received the same from NYU and then I was given 13K in scholarships from CU.

Hi! I applied to the latest deadline for CU because I have a field placement only in the spring. I wasn't aware that would put me at a disadvantage with financial aid. They aren't giving any to those who being accepted with the later deadline? I want to clarify!

Has anyone been waitlisted and later accepted? I found out that I was on the waitlist for Columbia today and it feels like a denial.
