Does the uOttawa application have to have the CV formatted to the way they tell you to? Or are you able to submit a CV of any format?

Definitely format your CV the way they tell you to! :) I know of some applications being rejected simply for not following the instructions outlined in the application process. By following their format you are also demonstrating that you can follow instructions and pay attention to detail!

Hi! Do you mind PMing who you are interviewing with at McMaster?

midnight today

I think you should be ok. Do you have any proof of submission? Like a confirmation e-mail or something? If not, I would check the portal again today (now that the office is open) to verify that it was received since yesterday was a Sunday. Lastly, if you're feeling really anxious about it it... you could e-mail the psych/admissions admin and tell them that you submitted all the required documentation yesterday and are just writing to confirm that they have successfully received it. Just my 2 cents! :)

Thank you :) Yeah I ended up emailing the office, it now shows that all documents were received but my file still says incomplete not sure why. Hopefully its just taking a while to update.

Anyone close to SFU clinical psych know where they're at with sending out interviews? I know last year it was on Monday the 10th of Jan, so I'm going a bit nuts in anticipation today. Thanks!

Hello!

Third time charm seems to be working for me too! Heard back from a supervisor at University of Manitoba for MA Clinical psychology.

Hopefully this works out!

I actually have a situation that I was hoping to get advice on. 5 grad schools that I applied to had their deadline as December 1st. Since then I got an opportunity to work on two academic papers and send it to a journal for publication. The issue is I had no idea this opportunity would arise after December 1st therefore, I have not mentioned it in my CV. My question is do you think it is acceptable for me to reach out to these universities at this point and let them know about my updated CV?

This updated CV will definitely help my chances in getting into grad school. So I am conflicted with what can be done.

Edit: Sorry I replied and didn't realise you had already heard from the supervisor! I thought you wanted to just cold-email the program with an updated CV which I would advise against.

If you're emailing with them anyway about an interview/prelim, it's a different call, I would probably wait and mention it during an interview rather than sending an updated CV still, as I kind of mention below. They are already interested in you based on what you submitted, so I think it would be a good thing to discuss your new development "in person"/virtually in an interview.

Congratulations on hearing back!!!

Original reply: This is just my opinion but personally I wouldn't. Most programs don't allow you to make changes to applications documents after the deadline, so it kind of looks like you didn't read the website. To be honest, unless the paper has been accepted/published in this time, which I assume it hasn't since it usually takes much longer than a month to go through peer review etc, then I don't think it would make a huge difference to your application at this stage, so I really wouldn't stress about it. It is definitely something you should bring up if you have any interviews/prelim interviews though - it's exciting and gives you something new to talk about and shows that you're developing.

Sending good vibes out to all who haven't heard back yet. Remember:

  1. It is still very early in the process! There is still plenty of time to hear back from schools.
  2. There are so many factors that play into who is successful in gaining admission - it does not necessarily mean that you are unworthy of an offer!
  3. Many, many successful clinical psychologists had to endure multiple rounds of admission cycles before being admitted. This is part of the journey!
    :)

I agree with this person. I would just bring it up in any prelim interviews/meetings, just as a way to describe what you've been working on currently. Can even have an offhand remark about the change ("I'm actually not sure if that submission was mentioned in my CV or not") if it seems fitting.

It's really great to hear that a lot of people have been getting interviews! Got to admit that I am getting a little discouraged having not heard back at all but thats okay!

I was wondering if anyone knows when waterloos official interviews go out?

Also I wanted to get peoples thoughts on if you should submit an OGS application for a school you havent heard from yet?

Agreed - great to hear so many are successful! Really happy that y'all are getting some hits. Also a bit bummed to have not heard back from certain schools but life goes on!

Re: Waterloo, I just know that I have a prelim this Friday, so I can't imagine official ones will go out earlier than that. Beyond that, I'm not too sure as I've never interviewed with them before.

No advice on your last point - hopefully someone else will have some insight. Best of luck :)

Congrats! Would you be able to share your PI's initials? Also unless a paper actually got accepted for publication, I don't believe they would let you update it.
