lunalovegood Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Hey All, you're probably sick of posts like this but here goes. I'm thinking about applying for a PhD in Political Economy. I graduated from an Ivy League university in May 2010 with a joint B.A. in Development Studies (Honors) and Economics. I really enjoyed what I studied, but wasn't particularly strong on the quantitative part of Econ (though that could have been because of how it was taught). I have very limited knowledge of using statistical analysis programs (STATA, SPSS, and the like). I'm definitely interested in Political Science and how it relates to Economics, but at times I found Econ rather dry. I am REALLY interested in research - writing papers, engaging with material intellectually. Do you think I'm applying for the right program? If so, how would my application look: GPA: 3.83 / 4.0 Honors thesis in Development Studies (wrote on media representation of ethnic conflict in India) Working right now at a management consulting firm that has pretty much nothing to do with research. Haven't taken GREs yet. Thanks! firebolt119 1
