What were you doing when you got accepted?

The moves I'll make when I get the official offer of admission (WITH funding, cross fingers).  :D

Haha...I hear ya!  I received my official offer the day after I received my preliminary notification from my grad program director, but I am still anxiously waiting for the details of my funding package.

My second acceptance came earlier today while I was in bed watching Netflix, high on meds and feeling like a loser for missing work because I am sick (I HATE missing work).  I know I sounded like a total lunatic on the phone.

The funny thing, that I was checking email like every 5 min to see the result from the university in US, cause they have meeting now about funding. And I got email from University in Canada with offer and funding o_O

Could not believe. Still hard to process.

Super happy, especially since it is my third year of applications.

I was sitting at the train station waiting for my train home for Spring Break.  I was pissed off after arguing with my dad on the phone over something stupid, and when I hung up I saw I had received an email from my first choice school saying I had been accepted!  So I immediately had to recall my dad and tell him the good news...and the argument was forgotten.  I am so excited and immediately replied to the email accepting my spot in the program!  Funny how after days of constantly checking my email it was mid-argument that I got the good news :)

Yay!! So happy I finally get to post something on this thread! I love reading everyone's stories. Mine is kinda boring, but that's how it goes!

I had just picked my son up from school and was stopping home for just a few minutes before taking him to his friend's house for a playdate. I got on the computer to print something, and there it was!!

I know - YAWN, right? They can't all be gems. But this one is mine...

My department is interviewing new faculty members right now, and he was giving a lecture to our intro class while I sat in the back row with some friends and my advisor, as well as other faculty to observe. I got a call from my POI in the middle of the lecture so ran out the back door. She told me the great news, and when I went back into the lecture hall I tore out a piece of paper from my notebook that said "I GOT INTO UT AUSTIN" and passed it down. Everyone, including the faculty, gave my high fives and thumbs ups, and wrote messages/ questions back to me. My advisor even wrote, "OH MY! I owe you a drink!", along with, "What did she say?!", "Was she excited?!, "Is there funding?!" etc., and I eventually had to respond with, "No note passing in class, I will tell you everything later!"

I'm so grateful I have a department as excited as me! And of course when the lecture was out, we all went into the hall and did a happy dance together. :D

Thanks!  I was so out of it, I forgot the person's name who called me as I was talking to them.

I can't imagine any offer that would lure me away from McGill.  That acceptance was nothing short of a miracle.

This is a bit of a sob story, but I'll tell it anyway:

I've been dealing with some health issues. I went to see my specialist a few weeks ago to see if the treatment plan he put in place was working. It wasn't. We discovered that my issue hadn't gotten any better, so he recommended that I stay on a medication for the foreseeable future. This medication is pretty much the worst. The side effects suck.

I left his office and walked home in a foul mood. I can't drink while on these meds, but oh man did I wish for a drink or something to cheer me up.

When I got home, I checked my email and waiting for me was a message from a POI. She told me that the committee met last week and would be recommending me for admission, and that I could expect an official notice in the coming weeks.

I went from completely bummed out to over-the-moon excited in under five seconds. :D

I got my first acceptance (to my dream school!) a couple of weeks ago, during a lecture about traumatic brain injury. I bet everyone else in the class thought I was some sick jerk when I was excitedly smiling and bouncing up and down in my seat! Hopefully some of them heard my call my mom with the good news after class  :)

I got my first acceptance while I was INTERVIEWING with a faculty at the second school! Thankfully my phone was on vibrate... but I was sweating in my pants trying to pretend I didn't hear it.

I got my second acceptance while I was making a ham sandwich, four days later. I was thankfully in my apartment that time so I could dance like a maniac and punch the air while speaking in a professional manner. I guess the faculty member didn't hear my phone vibrating after all... ;)

Because of the time difference, I've been asleep when I got the email. You can bet that doesn't cause me to wake up at 4am panic-striken when I think I should be hearing back (or even when not).

Due to a busy workday I hadn't checked my email all day. I checked it just after work, not expecting anything and I saw that I got an acceptance from Carleton!! I really didn't expect it because my application was a couple days late. I almost fell down in shock! Simple email just offering admission. I had to read it a few times to make sure I wasn't misreading it :)

I got my third acceptance (I'm still in shock from the first one) while I was at home watching Law and Order aka The Crack of TV Shows. My room was a mess because I had just started preparing for the eventual move next month to the city of "wherever I decide to go to grad school" when my phone beeped with an email from the graduate school director.

I was obsessively checking my email and getting pretty anxious so my friends took me out to a trivia night at a local bar. They have a no phones rules, plus it started at 8 pm so I thought no way was I going to receive any word that late at night. I turned off my phone for three hours, which I am sure all of you here understand is a lifetime. For once in weeks I was completely relaxed and not thinking about graduate school. I turned my phone back on and found an acceptance that I had received less than five minutes after I shut my phone off.

The universe is a funny place.

The first one was on February 14th, at work, since I have a 9-5 job completely irrelevant to my field. I got rejected at work too, thrice.

The second one... I was asleep because UCSD apparently sends E-mails at odd hours. I woke up to an E-mail, freaked out, and found out I was accepted.
