  1. As a Molecular Biology major and math minor undergrad few years ago, I have very little experience in programming or engineering. After working in labs for few years I decide to change field and go for programming. I originally decide to go for bioinformatics only but still take my chance in CSME as it is somehow related but I felt I had no chance of going in. April 15th passed and I thought every school should have answer so I decided to go to SDSU for Bioinformatics. However, I just got news yesterday that I got accepted in CSME in UCSD and I don't know what to do. To me if just in terms of programming UCSD CSME is definitely better and have better job outlook. However, I don't know if I am able to handle the course work as I have pretty much 0 experience. SDSU on other hand it's better study environment and I got into a research lab already that can help enormously in my education, but the job outlook is not as good as I am now limited in this biology programming field and I heard hiring department tends to take those in computer science than bioinformatics. If anyone can give me some feedback or opinion that will be great Thanks
  2. So after B.S. at Molecular Biology and working in a lab for 4 years, I feel there is no future as merely B.S graduate in biology and want to do something in change. I heard a lot thing of getting master in biology doesn't help that much as it only adds 2 years of experience in working, and I don't really want pursue PhD. because I don't like research that much. So long story short after my fail attempt to get in some program last year I thought I should just use master as backup this year in case I didn't get in and which I was right. Good thing is I choose Bioinformatics and Bioengineering that are actually on job demand and have better pay. Originally I didn't think I will get in any bioengineering master program because I have literally no engineering background but still want try because it is really interesting. However, somehow I did get in SJSU Bioengineering program and now I am debating which path should I go to. Right now I have two schools: Bioengineering at SJSU vs Bioinformatic at ASU. I don't know enough of these two schools and don't really know what field I should go to. I hope someone can help me detail on advantage and disadvantage of these two fields, particular include:Job demand (for M.S @ California if best), Salary (sadly that's most important to me and I don't know if indeed number are correct), room of growth, difficulty(doesn't really matter to me both are fairly new to me), and some other stuff you guys can provide me. Also if someone can give me detail on those two schools, are they good, do they have some bad rumor on the field that may affect you...etc. I am still not finish yet with my acceptance as I still awaits SDSU(Bioinformatics) and SLO (Bioengineering). Even though by now if I have heard back I kind give up on them probably reject
  3. So is there anyone else applying for Master in SLO for Biomedical Engineering regenerative medicine program? They said all result will be out by March 15th and I sitting here now at 3pm pst still waiting for them to change. They did say that if waitlist they will know by April 7th but I should at least know if I am waitlist or not right?
  4. thanks for the advice, I am just super worry about my writing score because it's really bad. I feel both my writing and verbal score is up to the limit and it's not likely to improve, but I think I can get my Quant 5 points more (or to reach 170) do you think it's worth of retaking them? Thank You
  5. I graduated few years already with GPA of 3.1 with Mol Bio major After few years of working in lab field I want to Bioengineering. I just got my score of Quant:162, Verbal:149, and Writing 3.0 I know I can improve my Quant (I wasn aiming for perfect score but I was over-confident) For Verbal I think I did my best and I really don't think I can improve my score, same to writing. I am looking for more on States (SDSU, Cal Poly, and Santa Clara) and maybe some other state. Do you guys think I should retake the GRE? I know if I study for 2 more weeks I maybe can get my verbal to 150 range but writing I really don't know Thanks
