  1. An international development organization, in response to a vitamin A deficiency among people in the impoverished nation of Tagus, has engineered a new breed of millet high in vitamin A. While seeds for this new type of millet cost more, farmers will be paid subsidies for farming the new variety of millet. Since millet is already a staple food in Tagus, people will readily adopt the new variety. To combat vitamin A deficiency, the government of Tagus should do everything it can to promote this new type of millet. Write a response in which you discuss what questions would need to be answered to decide whether the recommendation is likely to have the predicted result. Be sure to explain how the answers to these questions would help to evaluate the recommendation. The most important question here would be whether it would work. Most of the farmers are illiterate. They live with their minimum wages of salary. Thoer entire crop is lost if there is no down downpour. ALready with the crops they culture, they have enough issues to deal with. Now, when the government comes up with an alternarive plan for cultivaton of a high breed millet with an increased content of Vitamin A, it needs to be cultivated. When it is introduced to the farmers, they are not going to irrigate the farm all of a sudden so that high breed millet can be grown, many questions need to be answered. It is mentioned in the question that the farmers will be provided with subsidies. But practically speaking, will all the farmers be given sufficient money so that they can cultivate? Also, since it is a new crop to be cultivated, the method of farming migh also slightly differ including the pesticides and fertilisers to be used, the water content, nurturing method and so forth. These informations has to passed on to the farmers, so that they have an idea of what they are doing. Since the staple food of Tagus is millets, government can easily convince the farmers for its high breed cultivation. Farming always comes with a lot of insecurity, which has its basis on the weather, the funding alloted, other kinds of support from the government.
  2. People who make decisions based on emotion and justify those decisions with logic afterwards are poor decision makers.Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position. Decisions made on emotional grounds seems to be logically irrelevant majority of the times.I agree to validate the fact that emotional people are not good problem solvers, here decision makers. As history tells us, in police departments or any other government investigation agencies, the employees are not allowed to take cases which has any of their family members being sued or being the victim of the criminal case/civil case which took place. This is primarly because the superiors think that when these employees start investigating the cases mentioned above, they tend to bring emotional aspects into the picture making them to have a different level of perspective tending them to take actions on emotional basis rather than logical basis. THis does create irregularity in the court of law and there is clearly a bias, hence this activity is strongly discouraged. Our feelings should not affect the way we think. Maybe in some cases, we are forced to. As described in the question as to people making decsions on emotional basis and then giving logical explanations, they might be sometimes put in a situation where they donot want to feel superior, complexity of the situation must be taken into consideration. Probably for people having low self-esteem and an inferiority complex, they quickly make decisions to be in par with the surrounded people. But end of the day, it is only going to downgrade them. As they meticulously keep doing it, the fact of being insecure becomes more obvious, which was unnecessary in the first place itself. To conclude, there are two sides for the same story. It doesnt mean both are correct,it is about how we perceive them. Practically speaking, most of the times decisions based on emotions tend to be a disaster, especially when it comes to work.
