UC Berkeley MSW Statistics

I feel like at this point, they are sending out rejection letters. Only 28 ppl get accepted, so why would they take a long time with ppl that get accepted?

Just got an email! I have been waitlisted. The email said that they accept around 30% of the students off the waitlist each year, and to respond to say if I am interested in remaining on the list.

At least now I know that they are considering me. The big wait is finally over!

Yeah, it looks like Monday is the day. To clarify, I applied Health Services so I don't think they're necessarily sending their responses based on concentration.

Has everyone from all concentrations heard back by now? I applied for the Children and Family concentration/Title IV-E program. They are waiting to complete the interviews before sending out decisions. I am getting very anxious. Congrats to those who have made it in!

I'm also waiting to hear from Berkeley's Title IV-E Program. Hopefully we will hear sometime this week; I think they did their last interviews on Friday 3/18!

Waiting has been nerve-wracking for me! How did your interview go? Mine was okay. It could have gone either way. I thought the interviews finished up on the 11th, so I was waiting nervously all last week for a decision. I was starting to get discouraged, but if interviews only ended last week then I can have a little hope. Anyways, good luck! Keep us updated if you hear something. No word, unfortunately. Hopefully we hear by April. I've heard from all of the schools, so I know I will going crazy until I hear from Berkeley.

My finacé found this forum for me because I have been waitlisted for the MSW program at Berkeley. I have applied for the Management and Planning concentration. Anyone else on here apply for that one as well?

I graduated from Loyola Chicago in December and have been following your conversation. I'm really worried because I'm coming straight from undergrad that my chances are slim. But I've been waitlisted so all hope is not lost!

I have the experience and the GPA but my GRE scores were not as strong...

any thoughts anyone?!

I can't respond specifically to the program at Cal Berkeley (although I've heard it's fabulous!). I have been accepted to the Loyola Chicago MSW program this fall and am considering attending. Since you attended for undergrad, I was wondering if you would mind sharing your thoughts and opinions on the program/school/Water Tower Campus? There has been minimal conversation on this forum about LUC, so I would be very appreciative of any comments!

Congrats on being accepted to Loyola MSW program, it's really great. If I wasn't moving out to California I would have definately applied. I spent most of my time at the Lakeshore Campus because that's where most of my classes were held; I majored in International Studies. I did take one social work class at Water Tower and loved being on that campus. If you love being in the city you will love Water Tower; it's one block from Michigan Ave. I really liked Loyola and really appreciated having a Jesuit education. It opened my eyes to a lot of issues in the community and a lot of underserved populations.

The only downfall to Loyola is how much it costs. I think it'll be worth it in the long run because it is a renowned school in Chicago.

Chicago is going to be different than Seattle, but you'll love it. Good luck braving this weather!! I'm so excited to get out of it (sorry!)

Chicago is such a great place for social work, there are so many outlets and opportunities here.

Baumhart is a great building. I actually worked for Campus Safety during undergrad (work-study) and my post was the front desk of Baumhart. It's a brand new building and it's HUGE. You'll have great views of the city. On campus life at Baumhart, to me, seems more independent. You have to find an org to belong to or keep an eye out for events on your own. Because the campus is downtown, a lot of events and speakers come there because it's easier to get to than Lake Shore. Water Tower is very urban so it doesn't have the feel of a traditional campus, but within the few blocks of Water Tower there is a sense of community. It's great that your living on campus too, you'll meet a lot of graduates that way. Lastly (I know this is long sorry!) Loyola is a big commuter campus, especially for grad students so use classtime to meet people and meet up outside of school/off campus.
