Anyone admitted to EE PhD without an undergrad degree in EE

Yes, I have.  I got into Georgia Tech (the only EE program I applied to) with a BME undergraduate degree having taken only 2 EE classes during undergrad.  However, I did know a very junior faculty member there as I had worked with him before when he was a post-doc, though I don't know how much sway that had in my admission.

I know several students that were admitted without a BSEE. I know students with computer engineering, chemistry, and even statistics backgrounds. It's totally possible. In fact, there are sometimes EE faculty that do not have their degrees in EE.
