  1. If you haven't heard from CSM still, you should call, they have made all their decisions. I called the front office at LSU and some lady said they expect to announce all their results by late this week/early next week. LSU is a fairly good program especially for drilling engineering. They have a state of the art Petroleum Engineering Research & Technology Transfer Laboratory which is an industrial-scale facility with full-scale equipment and instrumentation for conducting training and research related to borehole technology. I believe its the only school in the US to have such a facility. Also, its location by the gulf and close to industry makes it a pretty easy spot for recruiters to get students from and easier for students to network because of the proximity to industry. There are no official rankings, but from some forums and all I think it would certainly be in the top 10 of the ~17 schools that offer the program in the US. I'm quoting this from a forum so take this with a grain of salt, but "Let me know if you have more questions. I get my information from former and current recruiters at one of the largest oil companies. Here is their list from where Major oil companies recruit the most from this current year. 1. UT Austin - best school for reservoir engineering 2. Texas A and M - the best school for loyal alumni network 3. LSU - the best school for drilling engineering 4. University of Oklahoma - Great program and it has advanced facilities 5. Texas Tech - This is the underrated school for years 6. Penn State - expansion in Marcellus Shale causes high recruitment 7. Colorado School of Mines - Great school academically but slowly falling behind 8. University of Tulsa - Small but nice school 9. University of Louisiana at Lafayette: You don't hear about this but this is like the secret backdoor to getting hired by a major oil company because of its key location. 10. West Virginia University - same thing as Penn State And others." http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/engineering-majors/1563400-is-petroleum-engineering-a-good-major-to-get-into-now-help-p3.html
  2. Sorry to hear that man! Have you heard anything from LSU? I applied to the University of Louisiana Lafayette and after speaking to the graduate coordinator, I have been accepted to the program, however, I don't have an official acceptance yet! But I'm glad to have been accepted there and from what I've found online its a fairly good program. Still waiting on LSU though!
  3. Sorry to hear about your rejection. Not sure about Tulsa, but CSM has made all their admission decisions. If you can't see it online, you should call the office and ask them. I am still waiting for TAMU and LSU. I didn't get into CSM sadly, V-152 Q-159, W-4.0. ~1 year experience with an environmental agency. You seem to have a good profile for CSM and LSU. TAMU is taking their time but when I called they said they are trying to make all their decisions ASAP. Good luck!
  4. Thanks, imperial! I kinda expected UT so no worries. Still no word from anywhere else here! For anyone who has applied for TAMU, does your status say "Your application is missing one or more required credentials"?? I am 100% certain when I applied about 4 months ago, the website said I can send in a copy of my official transcript for the review process and I did that, so when I call both the graduate office and department, they say they have all my documents, however, officially my file is still missing the 'official transcript'. Now when I check the pet eng website though it says official transcripts are required for admission purposes, I just want to ensure I am not getting screwed over because I didn't send in my official transcripts for the review purposes. Thanks in advance.
  5. Ya this waiting period is killing me. That was actually me who posted that Mines decisions will be out in mid-April, I was able to get in contact with the department. I actually just got denied from UT Austin today For TAMU, did you guys get an email notification? I'm counting on Mines a lot now!
  6. Hi everyone, Has anyone here applied for the Colorado School of Mines program. I've applied to UT Austin, TX A&M, CSM, LSU, and Univ of Louisiana - Lafayeette! I haven't heard back from anywhere yet and have been getting very nervous now. LSU's deadline for applications isn't until April 1st and they don't announce their decisions until up to a month later, so I think it will still be atleast a month before I hear anything from them. Same with ULL. However, I've been checking the results everyday, (lol almost every 2 hours) on the site for people who got in and I see a lot of people have already heard back from UT Austin and TX A&M so I've given up hope on those two now. However, I don't see anything for CSM on there. I was curious if anyone on the site has applied and heard back anything from there. Thanks and good luck to everyone!
