  1. Hi all, Now that we've (mostly) finished applications and tax season is upon us, here's a question: Are grad-school application fees and related expenses tax deductible? Do they qualify for any of the education credits? I've been asking around and doing some googling, but have only received mixed responses. Does anyone here know anything about this? Sorry if this is in the wrong sub-forum. Thanks!
  2. Great, thanks so much for your input, and congrats on your acceptances! Out of curiosity, are these your applications from this cycle (to start in fall 2015?)? You've already heard back?? I thought they didn't start reviewing PhD applications until after the deadline..
  3. Hi all, I'm applying to a handful of Health Policy/Research/Econ PhD programs this fall, and if I don't get accepted to any of them, my backup plan is to get an MPH and try again next fall. I was wondering if it's smart to apply to both PhD and Masters programs at the same schools in the same cycle? I've heard that it's not a good idea to apply to both since a masters application signals to the school that you're not serious about a PhD (which I am!), but I'm not sure if this also applies to Health Policy programs. From what I've seen so far, most schools administer their MPH applications through SOPHAS, while PhD applications are processed by the Graduate School Department - would they actually know if I applied to both? And if so, does it affect the chances of getting into the PhD program? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
