  1. Finally got my letter. Doctoral fellowship, B category, 13.4! I'm in england, so that's the best I could hope for. I'm so hugely relieved... last year didn't even make it past the first round, and due to the short length of PhDs in the UK this was the last year I could apply. Beyond stoked. To those who didn't get it first try, as others have said: try and try again. Even statistically, the first year/pre-first year apps have such a low chance of getting it and this increases a bit every year, in addition to more awards/pubs/clearer research plan. This forum's been so helpful in tracking where everything's at, I'll be a bit sad to stop obsessively checking this thread!
  2. And with you both in the slightly more southerly island of the UK. Mail on saturdays but not sundays here... hoping for a weekend result but very resigned to anxiously watching my mail on mon/tues... gah. All these letters are making me even more nervous!
  3. Hmmm, possible, though it sounds pretty much like it'll be directly to the portal. Twitter isn't really secure... I dunno... speculation here mostly due to the longer length of mail time to the UK meaning a possible online revelation first...
  4. Yeah, me too. I'm just curious because they've never released doctoral results online before... that'd be a pretty huge thing.
  5. Anyone know what it means by uploaded to the secure online portal? Is this happening for the first time? Eiks. And now the long wait for us in foreign countries begins... (UK! eeeeeek) nerves already pulsing.
  6. Direct applicant in the UK, just found out I was forwarded! Phew! One more round to go... For the record, the letter says that there were 593 applications reviewed by the pre-selection and 256 were forwarded. I'm assuming that this is a statistic relating only to direct applicants? If this is the case, (because I'm obsessed with statistics, who isn't): 259 were forwarded last year, and 80 direct applicants got awards (according to the statistics released in November), which means direct apps that get forwarded have around a 30% success rate? I guess? Though I'm sure it varies wildly by country/subject/etc... so probably useless to think about...! in any case: YEAH!
