  1. I applied for a masters to all schools except the Duke/Carolina program, so maybe they notify masters students later than PhD? Have you heard from Toronto yet? I really would like to go there, but they don't offer any funding at this point, and for me that is very important. Rutgers doesn't either, but there are always exceptions. All of UIC's students that I met had TAships, even the MA students, and all receive extensive teacher training, so I'm really excited to hear from them on a Teaching Assistantship, I don't only want to teach, I want to be able to teach well, and their program really seems to provide that experience. Toronto e-mailed me this past Friday. Good luck! They offer PhD students guaranteed funding so that's always a plus!
  2. I was accepted to UIC as well, and just got back from a campus visit. I met with professors and graduate students, and they were all wonderful. I'm waiting now for a funding offer, which the head said should be sent out "very soon"... Have you met with anyone yet or heard anything about funding? I also got into U Toronto, but at this point I don't think they have any funding so I'm not sure they will work out. You say you received notice from Rutgers? I also applied there, and haven't heard anything. How did you find out? Mail or Online?
  3. I have a visit coming up this Monday to University of Illinois at Chicago, and I am meeting with four professors, grad students, attending a TA meeting as well as sitting in on a class. I had prepared myself for something of an admissions interview after I found out I was meeting these professors, but yesterday I got an admit e-mail, saying I had been admitted by the department. So, if I've already been admitted, what should I expect from these interviews? They are individual interviews with each professor, some with research interests related to mine, and some not at all. I'm incredibly nervous as I've never met with any graduate professors before, or visited any campuses yet. I am maybe slightly (only slightly) less nervous knowing that I got in...but still really unsure as to how to prepare myself, what to expect to discuss, what to bring, etc. Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks! ALSO: Big Question: I am wondering what to do if A. they ask if they are my first choice (they are one of my top choices, I have three that I feel equally about) and B. will they try to pressure me into saying I will enroll? Will they ask me if I plan on attending and how should I answer...I honestly don't know yet as I haven't heard back from any other schools yet, and if I have choices, my husband's job prospects will probably come into play. Basically I am just worried they will expect me to make a decision there, or that it will affect any funding decisions if I can't tell them immediately yes or no.
  4. Also, anyone heard from U Minnesota-Twin Cities? My status has said "Graduate Final Review" for over a week, and according to the website that meant I should have a decision on applyyourself within two business days...I called and they said they've been backed up and things are behind, but wondering if anyone else has heard anything for German? Same for U Toronto (says "Under Review"), Rutgers, and UNC-Chapel Hill
