I have an MA in History & was going to go on to the PhD but my thesis advisor told me that what I wanted to focus on (Early Modern Britain) was not my strength, and that Public History was where I was much better-- I went away dejected, but applied to the Public History Certificate Program and loved it. I could eat, sleep and breathe Public History. Finished up the Graduate Certificate program and -ha ha!- found out I was expecting. I've taken off nearly a decade to raise several kids. I'm eager to get back to learn- I have several other interests along with Public History (my niche was museum education). All along the lines of continuing or adult education. Can anyone tell me about the UVA program in Instructional Technology I'm a little daunted by the school, I did my BA at a top 50 school, but MA and Cert. at a lesser known regional school (due to husband's job at the time... could not move) Plus, of course, the fact that I've been out of school & basically reciting the ABCs for 10 years. I would love to use the degree to 1- selfishly- just to learn (I love school & learning... hence the museum ed. specialty) 2- either work towards changing education policy, continuing education programs, or go back to Museum Ed. 3- or teach & write on the college level
