  1. Nope! Me neither! I'll be signing off now! I don't know if I'll reattempt in the near future. Can't put some more baby-making on hold forever! I sincerely wish you all the best of luck in the next round!! Now time to focus on full time tenure track faculty positions for my hubby! Goodbye! It was wonderful chatting with all of you while we waited for this news!
  2. Ooh, husband didn't get it. (ETA Full Ireland) still waiting on mine. I don't have much hope if he didn't get it! His was good!
  3. Awesome! I'm so happy some of you are moving on to the next round. Makes me feel good to know that good peoples are winning these things, even if I don't. (Still waiting..)
  4. Congrats to you! Good luck in round 2!
  5. Refresh refresh refresh refresh refresh..... Any minute now... Ah.. I don't wanna know I changed my mind!
  6. Ahh! So afraid now! I'm very sorry to hear that!
  7. Ooh.. Yah. You think that was the masters full, the regular full, or the Irish language full...? Hmm...may be sad for both of us
  8. Yeah they really aren't supposed to do that yet! Weird. We seriously have to find out today if that school is broadcasting it like that. Sheesh.
  9. Also someone in Finland. I think some countries sent the notifications before the U.S. office did. So apparently everybody, even the country we applied to, knows before us!
  10. Ok, I went back and checked the forum from 2 years ago. One of those applicants said that in 2009 they were notified at 9:20am est. so, it is possible for us to find out in the morning... I really hope they don't wait until the evening like the previous two years... I just need to get this over with and be free to focus somewhere else for a change.
  11. Agreed.
  12. Good morning all! (For me) Today's the day. Hopefully it doesn't take another 12 hours...I sure hope I can give friends and family some good news. They've started remembering that we should find out soon so they're all asking,,, maybe I shouldn't have told anyone that we applied!
  13. Well, I have company so I will be away. Ack! Darn these emails. I wish I wouldn't get any until the fulbright one arrives.
  14. Him.. Let us dissect the connotations of "very" 5 minutes? 1 hour? 12 hours? 24? Several years ago they heard at 9am.. I think 09... They mentioned it on the 11/12 forum
  15. I sure hope some of us hear tonight To answer some questions- we've thought only a few times about if we both get it, because the second we say that what if outloud we realize how low the chances would be for that to happen in the first place. So, we haven't worried or talked about it really. I'm giving up worrying until tomorrow around 8. 7-7:30 is still game for me. And we are very certain about it being by the end of the day Friday. Someone's FPA did say some would find out today, and others tomorrow, but not everyone's. I don't know how the FPA's get their info...some seem like they are in the know, while others don't seem to give anyone a hint. I'm applying at large, so I just gather what I can on here.
  16. Yes, last year it was 7/7:30 pm, as recorded on the grad cafe. The time stamp is an hour ahead of me, so it may be 6/6:30 Philly time.
  17. He's applying in the arts, photography specifically. He'd like to document the overgrowth of hazel scrub in the Burren, and what the control of the scrub means to the people. The scrub acts like a weed, but it's actually indigenous to Ireland. So whereas environmental conservation has been an attempt to keep the location how it has been before humans, what they are doing with the scrub is actually an attempt to make Ireland stay how we think of it now... Not how it has been before human involvement. He'd explain it better... But that's the gist of it.
  18. Yeah. Him and my 1 year old. And if he gets it, I and my son will tag along with him! No extra $$ for our programs, but it's worth it.. If I get it, we'll go to Luxembourg, and my son could learn French (or German or Luxembourgish) at an early age. And maybe if you get it he'll realize if he liked it then he shoulda put a ring on it. Oh oh oh... Haha.. Getting a little crazy here waiting. But for real, I'm sure he's a great guy! Good luck to you! (With fulbright and the ring!)
  19. Phew- 85 people. I'm counting down to 6/6:30 (eastern) and hoping its here then. But that's not stopping me from refreshing my email every other minute either. I'm a teacher of French. Graduated undergrad '08. Husband just finished his MFA this summer and is an adjunct professor.
  20. Ahh! Confirmation! I hope that FPA is right! I will believe that one since it is want i want to believe. haha. So excited and scared! Well, my husband will probably be finding out tonight then (full) and me tomorrow (eta).
  21. Yeah, it's like they have to be trained in poker or something. If I were an FPA I'd avoid any of the applicants because I don't think I could not give them a little smile or something if they got it!
  22. Hello everyone! In case you didn't go back and read, we are definitely being told by tomorrow (Friday) evening. We've seen some FPA's say that it's definitely tomorrow, and others say "by" tomorrow in a letter forwarded directly for the Fulbright offices. Either way, tonight we will find out if we have to wait just one more day. Also, based on last year, some of us think that the Full grant applications will be notified today, and the ETA's tomorrow, in keeping with the 2 year pattern. Last year they were announced separately, (I'm guessing because its a whole lot of emails and they wanted to break it up...) and we don't think they will be working on a Saturday to do this. I remember them finding out last year around 7-7:30, grad cafe time, which is an hour ahead of me. I'm in NJ, so maybe I will hear 6/6:30. My husband is applying for a full and I am applying for an ETA. It might be interesting to see how this works out if it does end up being on different days. I bet if he is given a no today I will be much more stressed tomorrow! Part of me says, "just tell me no, already" so I can move on.
  23. Hm, that sounds pretty definite. Though we saw an actual copy of what the committee sent to all the FPA's, and it didn't actually say on Friday- it said by Friday at the end of the day. Splitting hairs, I know. Any whos, I keep telling myself that IT DOESNT MATTER- I'LL KNOW SOON ENOUGH, but I don't believe myself. I am still anxious to just know as soon as possible!
  24. That makes it sound like it really doesn't have to be Friday- I interpret that to mean that the FPA's think it could be anytime now. I guess once they're already informed, it's just a matter of having time to send us all the emails...
  25. I am hoping this too. The letter forwarded directly from Fulbright to the FPA said "by" the end of the day Friday, not "on" Friday. ...Not that I'm putting any money on that. Just hoping.
