    I'm in the process of applying to some iSchool PhD programs. Have you heard about alternative job placements for those with Doctorates in Library and Information Studies--e.g. public sector positions? The state of the economy has me wary of academic job prospects, so I'm hoping to find alternatives.

    I'm hoping to revive this thread for a new set of applicants (matriculating in Fall 2010). Any new Ph.D. hopefuls--especially those straight out of undergrad? Research interests?
