  1. Thanks for the advice! I'll look into those! I was also looking at University of Oregon. They don't have a MAT program but their MFA program looks great and inexpensive. Do you have any insight? (I see that you're in OR)
  2. I want to apply to the same school for two areas as well. I can't really make up my mind about whether to pursue MAT in art education or MFA and a lot depends on funding. I'm currently out of the country until after the applications are due, so I'm not really able to visit. Does it look inconsistent to apply in both areas and thus less likely to receive funding in forms of tuition waivers or teacher assistanceships?
  3. Hi I'm looking for programs that focus on art education. Is anyone else out there looking at Art Ed? Its hard to find information on schools which have a good program for Art Education. Most rankings are fore MFA programs. I don't want the program to be too academic and theoretical, focusing on the teaching artist. I'm looking at schools which have a strong art department but provide a lot of funding, so there aren't any private art schools on my list. I am also considering MFA programs and getting certified to teach separately. However, my main goal is not necessarily to be a professional artist but to teach. Sure, I'd like to teach in college level but I'm just as inspired by teaching in K-12 and think its a lot more practical job security wise. I have a BFA from MICA and have been out of school for 10 years teaching art abroad so I figured I would be more likely to get into an art ed program since I've been out of the art world for awhile. The schools I am looking at are: MAT or MArt Ed. Programs: Virginia Commonwealth University Tyler School of Art University of Texas at Austin University of North Texas University of Arizona CUNY Brooklyn MFA Programs: Tulane University of Oregon Rutgers Tyler Any suggestions?
