Hello, I'm interested in functional linguistics, specifically things having to do with formulaic language and discourse analysis. I'm applying to PhD programs. So far I have it narrowed down to CU Boulder, U Texas Austin, Rice, UC Santa Cruz, and possibly UCSB, UCSD. I'm open to other possibilities, but I like the faculty and research focuses at those universities. I'm not opposed to East Coast schools, but most of them don't really focus on functional linguistics.
