Hello,
To those considering the Ed.D- how much of a factor do you think the change over to the Ph.D will be on the value of the (then-defunct) Ed.D? Everyone I've spoken to at HGSE (students/POI) say that it is purely an administrative change, but I can't shake this feeling that in 10,20 years there may be significant career implications to holding an Ed.D even if from HGSE. I am not set on either pursuing academia or non-academia (am open to either) but don't know what the corresponding implications would be. It's slightly more well-known internationally than my other option but that's NOT the case from a research/academia perspective. However, in non-US academia, would for example World Bank or international universities care more for an Ed.D from Harvard versus a Ph.D from another school? If there are any current students who can voice the general sentiment, that'd be great as well!
I am considering a variety of factors in my decision and this is one that has me most confused.
Thanks!
