It is a new program under CS school in Simon Fraser University and its official name is "Computational Methods for the Analysis of the Diversity and Dynamics of Genomes (MADD-GEN)" and seems quite related to Biology.
I have a B.S. in statistics but also have experiences in ACM-ICPC competition, so I am applying for master programs in CS. Because I applied for the DM lab, about a month ago the secretary sent me an email asking if I am also interested in this program. I applied and was offered an admission to this new program now.
I have some experiences in biostatistics but my interest lies in DM/ML and their applications in industry. Therefore I hope this program is focusing on CS and not requiring for too much Biological training. The curriculum is quite 'Computer Science'. To be honest, I am not preparing for a career in Biology.
Is there anyone familiar with some similar programs?
Also, I am assigned a Prof. from CS as my potential advisor, is it a good choice to talk about these concerns with him?
Thanks. And I wish everyone could get satisfactory results!
