  1. Hi! I just accepted my admission letter from U of Chicago..Nice to meet you. I applied to Neuroscience program and the stipend level is similar. Based on the conversation I had with current graduate students, they do feel rich. I don't know if that will be true for everyone though.

  2. I got an email from UNO that they are still reviewing applications and will make decisions by March 15th. So i'm guessing no interviews? It seemed like a standard generic email sent to all applicants (or applicants in consideration).

West Virginia's interview weekend is this weekend.

And to speak to your frustrations.. I understand, and it happens. Grad schools are getting more and more competitive and applicants with good credentials don't make the cuts. Technically, this is my third time applying as I went to a Master's program the first time, didn't get in anywhere the second time, not even interviews (with a Master's degree!), but this time it is finally going really well. Just be patient and persistent and try not to take it personally.

I thought this is the post that I posted unconsciously..hey, your situation is 'exactly' the same situation with mine. First time I applied Ph.D, accepted as a master program, no luck for the second chance, and this is my third time and looks better! I feel you man, I feel you...

  3. Hi guys. I have been here one year ago and got no interviews at that time. Now I have applied for Neuroscience program again and then finally got one interview from UNC. What I have done during one year is submitting the paper to the journal, working as a research assistant in the neuroscience lab. I am pretty sure that was reflected on my SOP well(pretty sure since I have written all technical terms on SOP, which I did not do for the last year's SOP). I noticed there will be one or a few more waves of interview calls. I will keep crossing my fingers :)

  4. Hi all! I am an international student and did undergrad and master in the state. About my speciality and as you all know well, I applied to computational neuroscience track and I have not heard yet from any of schools that i have applied to.

Based on the info you guys have produced so far, computational people are not getting as many invitations as other track people are getting? If so, I am having two big problems over here.. But i will not loose the hope! ;)

  5. @ryancho Thank you soooo much for your posting! Although there was nothing i could do more for my application for UPenn, your posting absolutly made my day :). I also applied to UPenn and was disappointing that I have not got an email from them. Fingers are still crossed!

I also applied to NYU and Princeton and have no idea what they are doing with the application. Probably we will be able to say something about them tomorrow, Friday before Christmas a.k.a. Bloody Friday. :)

    고마워요!

  6. @SMcrumble,mccamel Thank you for your opinion! I think they just have been sincere and just "interested"; nothing more, it is not allowed for me to expect positive result out of that comment. It looks like many people have gotten that response from professors and they are worth to apply as I am. Still we all have to compete or sell ourselves and to look extraordinary!

I am still waiting the interview invitation and if no invitation comes along till the Friday, I probably will start to think about the Plan B, although I don't really have one :(

  7. @kmb268 Congrats! I was going to reply saying that I applied multiple places and haven't got any interview email yet :\ But your question and reply of stmwap and mccamel kind of comforted my messed mind.

I checked out this thread yesterday and confirmed that many universities that I applied to have sent out their invitation to the interview already(UPenn, UW so and so..). I did not get yet and I am panicked so bad(this is my third time). Well but as I said, it is too early to through the towel..

BTW, I have applied to 13 different Neuroscience departments and many professors from those universities have sent me reply saying that "I am very pleased to know that you are applying our program..." or "I will hope to see you at the interview process..." or "Indeed our research interests have a lot in common.." kind of things. I was so psyched to hear those because those are from the university that I am REALLY REALLY interested! Most 'FINE' email was "your resume is interesting..". Most of reply was very affirmative. And yet, I haven't heard the word from them. Is it usual to everyone? Do they just say that to be nice? Because as far as I know, professor usually does not say that kind of thing to random student.

Thank you for making this thread. I probably will be dwelling in here from now :)

  8. I am so happy that I found this thread. I applied to 13 neuroscience programs, including UPenn and UW. I haven't heard from UPenn yet(disappointing) and have a hope for UW. I am currently working in the one of the lab of Neuroscience dept of UW as a master student from another dept. Although my poi did not ensure me to get into the program or anything yet, I am very good side now.

Congrats for those who got an invitation for the interview. It looks like really lots of ppl have applied to the program what I did to too! Impressed!
