  1. @ Ryancho. Hey, sorry for the late reply. Wait, I'll paste Bob's reply.

    "

    Hello,

Applications are divided and reviewed based on your area of interests.  To the best of my knowledge the area that you applied to has concluded their review and has sent out all invitations, and unfortunately they were not able to extend an invitation to you at this time.  However, no final decision can be made until the end of March so you can expect a decision by then.

    Best of luck,"

So I don't know. Maybe he was talking about my primary interest - Cell and Molecular Neuroscience?

In any way, congrats on U Penn!

  2. For those who are still waiting for MIT BCS, I emailed the coordinator.

He said they are still inviting applicants, and the time of notification depends on who is reviewing your applications, rather than "priority lists". Therefore, interview invites will continue for next couple of weeks. He also said that they received over 500 applications (!!) and 40% of them are internationals. Domestic and foreign applicants are reviewed as equal, and there is no set number of invitations in either case.

    So let's keep waiting!

    Hey,

Thanks for posting this! I had emailed the BCS Coordinator too (Robert Cummings?), and he told me that to the best of his knowledge, all the applications to the program I applied to (Although there were 3 preferences - Cell and molecular, systems, and cognitive; so I'm not sure which he means) have been reviewed and invitations sent out. HOWEVER, he said that no final decision is taken till March, so I should wait (which doesn't make sense at all). So I don't know, I'm assuming it to be a rejection.

I had also emailed Columbia about my status, who sent me a rejection too. :(

Any idea about the U Penn interview emails which were supposed to be sent in early Jan. Does anyone know if they've all been sent? (One of the last programs left that I haven't received a rejection from).

Being an international applicant sucks. :-/

  3. Hey, welcome and congrats on WashU. When's your interview session? I am Feb 14-16th, we may meet each other there.

I am also an international student (from South Korea, but did undergrad in the States), and I am very curious about those issues you raised. But I also have no idea. But I cannot imagine the admission committees put international students on priority over domestic applicants.

    Hey,

Thanks! No, sadly, I'll be interviewing on the Jan 17-18th session, so we won't be able to meet up. :(

I guess it helps, having done your undergrad in the US, but yeah I agree it's really different from domestic applicants. Guess we'll just have to be patient! WashU was the only school that I applied to which had a separate deadline for international students, so I don't really know how it works for the others. I've stopped expecting a lot though. :-/

Any idea about WashU interview acceptance rates?

  4. Hey everyone,

Bit late to join in the discussion!

I'm an international student, doing my undergrad in India. I've applied to about 10 Neuroscience Programs, but so far have only got an interview with WashU.

I was just wondering whether it's normal for international students to hear from schools a bit later? Seeing all these results has made me really nervous, and I've almost lost all hope now. :(

Anyway, congrats for all the amazing interview offers!
