  1. I accepted the Arizona offer. You can't beat full tuition remission, a teaching assistantship and a couple of fellowships. Damn you, UT. I really wanted to go there, but Arizona is great!
  2. I need some advice from all you smart folks! I am weighing going to UT-Austin RTF Media Studies with no funding and University of Arizona Comm Studies with teaching assistantship. Both programs are out of state for me. I know UT has a stellar reputation, but does that outweigh in state tuition and a stipend? Thanks in advance.
  3. If I can get in with my stats, I'm sure you're fine.
  4. Hi everyone... I got the email from UT-MA in Media Studies program. I got in! Good luck everyone.
  5. Thank you. This is one of two programs I applied to.
  6. Hi there! I applied to MA programs. UT-Media Studies and U of Arizona-Communication. I decided to go the MA route because I just don't know if I want to commit to a PhD. If I decide I want to teach, I can teach at a community college or I can go on and get a PhD later.
  7. Thanks for the encouragement. I hope you are right.
  8. All of the schools I am looking at state the minimum gpa is 3.0/4.0 and many including UT-Austin ask for last 60 units gpa. Mine is 3.7. Yeah, I have coworkers who went to New School and Columbia J school who said that they got no attention but the degree helped them get jobs because of the school name.
  9. I decided about 2 months ago that I want to go to grad school for cultural communication or media studies. my stats I just graduated last week with a degree in journalism I am 31 yo When I went to college right out of HS I screwed up royally. Long story short, I finished strong with 4.0s in my last 2 semesters, an upper division GPA of 3.727 and major gpa of 3.706. The problem is my cumulative GPA is a ridiculous 3.051. My question is, what can I do to better my chances of getting in to grad school. I know I need a good gre score, but hat else? Should I play up the fact that I was on an upward trend grades-wise with two children under the age of 3? I have a great internship and have worked on a national late night talk show as well as a reality show. Thanks in advance.
