  1. It's my understanding that they've sent out initial offers, and expect to hear back from those offers soon (or else already have) and will be reaching out to the waitlist depending on what they've heard from the initial offers within the nearish future. Good luck!!!
  2. I was accepted into that program early last week, and did not interview beforehand. I have a feeling, given the general silence on this forum, that the acceptances are not all issued on one day the way they are at some other schools. I guess what I mean to say is that I wouldn't worry too much about what my acceptance means for you! It's still quite early in the process!
  3. Hi All! I've just been perusing, but it seems more... communal to be a team player. Yes, I did check out the ASPH report! Applying to eight programs: three in epi (Brown, Minnesota and BU), and the other five in health behavior (Harvard, UNC, Hopkins, Columbia and Michigan). I'm pretty unclear on my or anyone else's chances of getting in, but for what it's worth, I've got a decent graduate (MPH) GPA, a less-decent undergrad GPA, pretty good test scores, and between four and five years of working experience (depending on how you're counting) in public health research from a national non-profit and a university. I submitted my SOPHAS on December 1, and they were finally mailed last Tuesday. Between those, and the applications that were not through SOPHAS, I guess it's pretty much a waiting game for now! I haven't heard from anywhere, except to tell me that they've received my application. Good luck to everyone! You all sound like you're going to have a very successful next few months!
  4. It's probably a little late to tell you this, but hopefully it will serve to calm your nerves if you already applied, or motivate you to apply for next year. When I applied to MPH programs, I had a GPA pretty close to yours (in fact, slightly lower). I got into four out of five programs (accepted at Hopkins, Columbia, Emory and BU and rejected at Yale), and matriculated at Hopkins. Yes. You should absolutely bother. Public health programs are certainly looking for a good GPA, but they're looking for a number of other things as well. The reasons I applied to higher ranked programs despite my GPA were as follows: 1. I had highly relevant work experience (at a well-known national organization, with a high level of responsibility, and publications) 2. I knew I would have excellent recommendations 3. I knew my writing skills would allow me to write an excellent statement of purpose I think you'll be FINE. I think you'll definitely get in somewhere, and I think you'll be happy with the program. What you have going for you now, from what I understand, is a clear sense of what you want to do, and a passion for it- which likely means that your recommenders will be able to very clearly explain what you want to do, and why programs should let you come do it. I can also tell from the way you wrote your question that you know how to communicate your thoughts through writing with no problem. I think there's a great chance that you'll write a killer statement of purpose, and get in everywhere you apply. I hope you applied! Good luck!!!
