  1. Hey - Anyone else out there applying for a PhD in business (management or strategy) or a DBA? This is my third time at the rodeo of application processes, but I'd applied for social science programs in the past. I have two Masters degrees (MBA and MPH) and would love to bend someone else's ear about general strategies, candidate profiles, etc. -Zoe
  2. Re: Harvard - congrats to those who were accepted. I applied for the JDP in Sociology/Social Policy and noticed nobody has posted about that yet --- anyone else apply for that particular program?
  3. Someone just posted an acceptance to Harvard. Congrats.
  4. I haven't heard a word. I think several New England-based schools are going to be delayed this year because of that snowstorm, which did, legitimately, close down several schools for up to an entire week. That definitely delayed the process.
  5. Columbia is notorious for dragging out the process. I know they've already accepted a few people, but they tend to make decisions through March and April...
  6. Anyone know the deal with Harvard? Not that I'm obsessing, but, if I were, I'd say that today would be about the day that they would start sending out their letters of intent ... just based on last year's dates, of course. But there was that giant snowstorm in Boston...
  7. I am 28. I was 22 and straight out of undergrad when I started my first Masters , and 25 when I started my second. Now that I have two Masters degrees, I'd like to think it will be helpful in showing admissions comittees that I am serious about my doctorate. I know programs vary greatly, but can tend to skew younger, which is ironic, because when I first applied for a PhD at 23, they essentially told me I was too young!
  8. Hey - I've applied for the second time (!) to PhD programs in American Studies, exclusively on the East Coast. Just wondering who else was out there --- and if any of you are as anxious as me! Also trying to get a better understanding of the applicant/candidate pool for Am Studies PhDs...
  9. It's such a bummer.
  10. Ugh. I know. He made it an explicit point to state that my application was extremely strong...and that they only accepted 6 people (3% acceptance rate) from this year's pool of applicants. I'm 0/2 out of a total of 8 (also rejected from Princeton, like basically everyone else on the planet). Someone needs to start a VC fund that backs travel or pharma-related coping mechanisms for all of us from mid-Jan until mid-March.
  11. It's cool. I just got a personal rejection e-mail from my POI at Cornell. Even though I got my first Masters at Columbia (MPH) I am not feeling super positive right now. Ugh. Second time applying. Just really frustrated, y'all.
  12. That must be the case. I'm surprised, as it's much earlier than the last couple of years...just found out that my main POI is leaving anyway.
  13. I see a couple of Columbia waitlists and a single acceptance --- but when I log onto my application online, there isn't even a link where I can click on my status. Anyone else know what's up with that?
