A classmate of mine got a call from UCLA two days ago informing him of his acceptance. I don't have other details, but it sounds like they're in the midst of sending out notices now.

Is it just me, or has there been a looooong silence? Should we (PhD applicants) stop holding our breath? I kind of have...

Do the UCs tend to notify around the same time as one another? It seems like they are currently sending out a lot-- friends of mine have heard from Davis, San Diego and Santa Cruz all in the past week (not all film programs). Yet I haven't heard a peep from UCLA anywhere on here. Hmmmm?

Can someone tell me where they go to check the status of their applications online? My application pages simply say "submitted," but I have yet to find where it says something like "Under Review." Thanks in advance for any pointers!

Are interviews always arranged with people they plan to admit? In other words, should we be nervous if we do not get calls to arrange interviews?

I know the MA program I am in admits about 8 out of 80, but I don't know how that compares with PhD level admissions.

Congratulations to the UCSB admits! Now I'm regretting having not applied there if only to have heard back from somewhere by now! Does anyone know the ballpark stats for the programs we are applying to? How many apply, for how many spots? A friend of mine was rejected from a History PhD program at Johns Hopkins and they told him there were 200 applicants for 11 spots. Since hearing that I've been curious about our potential schools.

Does that USC acceptance (in the results section) belong to anyone here? If so, congratulations!

Did anyone apply to UCLA? I'm curious because a classmate of mine heard about her admission at this time last year, but according to the results section of this site there hasn't been a peep from UCLA yet. Would be interested to hear if any of you have insights. Thanks!

Yeah, I've been keeping my eye on that too. If the committee this year is on the same timetable as last year we may be hearing some things this week!

Hi All, So pleased to find this community of anxiously awaiting persons! I know feel less alone in this wait. I've applied to just two Film Studies Ph.D programs this year-- USC and UCLA. Would very much appreciate to hear for anyone who has also applied. One quick question to run by the group-- I received a message for USC about applying for scholarships.
